Why would you choose MCR and SOAD. They would not fit into the atmosphere at all! |

exactly my thoughts |

and you two have been to ATP and know what the atmosphere is like do you? |

OK guys do u have any problems with any of the artists other than MCR and SOAD? lol (i can understand why people hate them, but i can't help it, they are somewhat of a guilty pleasure, sorry). You have to admit my ATP would be pretty diverse...
PS: I forgot to add REM, Phillip Glass Ensemble (performing the entire Qatsi Trilogy, *evil laugh* sit through that sheepfuckers) and Steve Reich |

Ha! Already sat through most of that...missed the first one though. The last film spoiled it a bit by being UTTERLY FUCKING AWFUL. |

I've seen all of the above and the Chilli Peppers, and I can vouch for the fact that RHCP are a rock band playing rock music with little to no movement, whereas Sclub are a proper show with dancing and fun, mis-teeq were loud as the Gods of thunder and I honestly did piss myself a little bit at the volume of the bass. Kelis was just mental. RHCP - corporate rock for people who don't like Keane or jobs. |

Yes, both of them. Pint? Is Porkie going as well? Any other London boardies fancy a pre-gig pint? Go on, go on, go on. |
The Kinks are still around? Bleh...

PJ harvey
Swans (reunited specifically for ATP) John Cale that's all i really care to think of right now. |

I wouldn't know where to start. Their discography is still a little daunting for me. From what I've heard, it's all very good indeed. They are my favourite British band I think. Apart from my own, obviously.
Yay. Pre-Haino pint then. Huzzah. |
Excellent!
|
I still have in my mind and ears how the gig started. An incredibly loud bout of guitar noise mixed with the acest of unknown world music voices on tape. They looked and sounded like they were having such fun it was contagious.
|
i wish i'd gone now, anyway, i'm up for a pint.

I only have The Love That Whirrs and Tristes Tropiques. I like both of them but probably like the former a bit more. Tristes... is a bit more mellow in general and has one really minimal track which i'm not too keen on. |
from my music library, id add alot more if i though about it.

no, what I mean is that these artists (and their fans) are out of place considering the rest of the artists that have played atp (and were usually associated with John Peel). Do you really feel that My Chemical Romance would be relevant to the festival when playing alongside the likes of Sonic Youth, the Fall, Shellac, Dalek, Mogwai and Aphex Twin? |

Oh come on really! I can listen to a John Cage record and at the same time appreciate a MCR record. I Like to mix up what im listening to. I could be listening to Bartok one minute, Merzbow the next. Hence my ideal gig would be a mixture of all these things, free from elitist snobbory. There is a level of passion and energy in MCR's music which is impossible to resist. Sorry if it doesn't fit in with a lot of people's lexicon of 'cool' but then a lot of good music doesn't.:p |
Nothing to do with cool here matey!!!Thay are crap.I wasn't judging your music taste at all as i barely know who you are.I'm just saying that My Chemical Romance are rubbish, that's all.
|
Okay I can see your point, its just a lot of people have problems with bands like MCR for the wrong reasons. One of my friends copied the record for me and I have to admit the first time I listened to it I agreed with with you. They didn't seem to be much different from the rest of the bands that were being put out by that 'scene', but on repeated listens It became obvious that they were far and above the rest in my opinion anyways. I just can't understand why they are the "worst thing to come out of music in the past 500 years" lol
|
Well, they are because they the entire history of recorded music association(or EHRMA)says so.
|
If MCR played it, there would be prepubescent little kids in black and eyeliner running around ATP.

If I curated ATP, 'ATP' would stand for 'Aphex Twin Phestival', and it'd be wall-to-wall APhex Twin, a total celebration of his life and work. Recordings, live performances and in conversation. It's be the best f***ing weekend of your life.

I'd be down for this festival, although I'd like to add Coughs and replace ANb with Two Dead Sluts, One Good Fuck, and maybe also bring Gang Wizard and Tralphaz along. Ettrick and Oaxacan, too! Any fans of Masonna need to hear (better yet see) Tralphaz. |
