I don't get this thread. Are you looking for people who are considered by many to be "punk" but don't live up to that title? Or are you looking for any band ever that is def not punk? I hate to burst anyone's bubble but I don't think that Mama's and Papa's or The Carpenter's were aiming for a typical "punk" sound. Possibly because the genre didn't exist yet.
