MBV are the definitive 'shoegaze' band I guess but my favourite is Slowdive. Ride, Lush, etc. are cool too. I can't really get into Catherine Wheel, I own Ferment but the only song I really dig on that is Black Metallic.

shoegazing is as good a term as grunge rock. media types tried hard to think of a name of a sound that was more than indie. college rock and artrock were used up so, they are miserablists with long fringes that never look up, so shoegazing became the name. long live shoegazing. great works are to be had. i was 15 around the time of the great shoegazing phenonemon so its a major influence on me... some albums to have to hold to love to hear are...

im sure ive forgotten most other shoegaze bands which floated my one eye fringe in school but being a teen shoegazer was resulted in short term memory loss......MEDECINE, great band.. theres one i forgot.....

amusement parks on fires first album is great, the second one, meh, its ok.. its not shoegazing tho!!!!!
