Look you haven't been here long so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but some time ago this forum was actually a hotbed for discussion with Glice, atsonicpark, n'ik and others firing on all cyclinders about all sorts of topics. Slowly this wave of users died out and now this forum is a mangled corpse for whatever new user decides to sign up and make assertions about whatever generic topic someone who likes Sonic Youth would discuss.

And this isn't a 'gtfo noob' post either, I'm a relatively new member in the context of the board's history but the users replacing the old members are subpar and much like new episodes of the Simpsons, I can't help but criticize it again and again.

this year i really enjoyed Fire! with Jim O, Kieran Hebden Steve Reid and Mats Gustafason and PJ Harvey

every now and again an album comes along which oozes quality from every inch. every note is perfect, every sound is spot on, every song is stunning.
in a year where "folk" seemed to be the new cool and every one was wearing a waste coat and playing a fiddle PJ came along and showed what a folk album should be.

I just can't see how it's being respectful when you insult a user/users for not interesting you. That's being a crybaby over something silly as far as I'm concerned. I'm no hip-hop expert, but I think Kanye sucks. Apart from his obviously meticulous and bombastic production, I see very little in that guy to like.

Granted, I've not heard A$AP or B. Probably better off.

I just don't dig him. There are three basic ways to be a brilliant hip-hop artists: 1) MC skills 2) originality of concepts and presentation 3) Particular relevance to the current time and place 4) super good production.

rule #1: he NEVER makes a bad album.

1) College Dropout & Late Registration are classics, and arguably even better than My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. doubt you've heard them.
2) Graduation is one of the best pop-rap albums.
3) 808's & Heartbreak is one of the most influental albums in the last few years.
4) Watch the Throne is his worst album rapping-wise, but still has some of the best production i've heard & Jay fucking freaks out on a few tracks.

Weezy used to be the king from 2004-2008. his last few features have already been much better & shown a spark of C3 Wayne.. he actually changes his music every year so let's hope C4 was just an accident & he'll make a comeback with Dedication 4 or I Can't Feel My Face.

But if I understood correct, Derek just said the quality of discussions have gone lower and he thinks it´s new members fault. So in the internet world I think it is quite easy to put up a group where only qualified can come, if the discussions here irratates so much. I don´t like people who like to complain all the time.
