This is what I was getting at. Though I don't think anyone seriously thinks a military strike against North Korea is an option. We have no options.

Maybe now we'll have to sit down and talk to them as equals, instead of making threats and rattling sabres.

Oh yes, I read the papers. But there's no need to deify me:)

Sorry to be pedantic, but I think you'll find that's 'HATING FREEDOMS'

iraq was bombed back into the stone age for oil & for bush's personal vendetta. ridiculous. ha ha i was going to post this i read "for hating freedom"-- ha ha ha ha...

about an invasion of north korea, sure u.s. forces would get spanked now, but in this hypothetical scenario they would have had a greater chance of succeeding if a)their main bulk could be committed to it, b) the u.s. had the credibility of the international community to justify an invasion c) china was in on it. the point anyway would be to take out its nuclear capabilities rather than occupy the place forever.

but the u.s. has no or little credibility these days ,and its forces are spent and demoralized, and any will to go to war in the population is now diluted. the fucktard should have saved the use of military power for when it really counts. oh! and afghanistan! i just heard on the radio the other day that some general or something estimated that the taliban was going to be impossible to defeat. what a bunch of fucks. i hate the taliban.

and this reminds me of the bombing of yugoslavia to oust milosevic. but that was a very different story.

speaking of which, unlike China or Russia, they don't have extremely long range missiles, what is their range anyways? 4000 miles at most?, I am not even sure that could even reach the northwest, only South Korea and Japan are in harm's way, and they haven't much luck with their missile technology if anyone remembers, and Patriot ABM missiles did seem to get better with time, so i bet there are a few of those installed in Japan and the DMZ

if there is any threat it would be a device not delivered by a missile, and more likely shipped by a container ship to a port city, or the proliferation of the technology to a radical islamic state

The Taepadong 2 missile has a 5,000-6000 km range, and George Tenet (who may not be the best source on this since he also said there were WMD in Iraq) said that with a light payload, the west coast could be hit, but with low accuracy.

BTW, I was just looking at Tenet's wikipedia profile, and apparently he went to high school with Ron Jeremy. Small world isn't it?

To be honest, this is my only worry about this whole fucking thing. If they bomb Seattle and the surrounding area, I will go apeshit-crazy on their flat Korean asses.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 10.09.2006 06:47 PM

I'd thank them if they bombed Seattle. It needs purged.

Florya 10.10.2006 01:37 AM

Looks like current ordinance will carry their payload as far as Alaska.
Seattle is safe. For now.

I didn't read this thread but its Clintons fault.

Welcome back to the world of "duck and cover".. we`re in deep shit.
And it`s even worse for the people IN north korea, because now, noone from the outside can EVER help them to get rid of the stalinist regime. They`re lost, and there`s no more hope. Kim-Young-Il and his sucessors are untouchable now, and a revoution from inside is pretty much impossible too, North Korea being a totalitarian police state. There`s not even hope that it will just collapse like the Soviet Union, because it HAS already collapsed. It can`t get any worse..

Iran will follow, and get the bomb in a few years. Now maybe even faster, if NK helps them out.. and then we`ll have the holocaust of our time. :(

Actually it was Rumsfeld's company that sold some of the reactors to N Korea.

And Cheney's co Halliburton that sold'm to Iran.

Clever, aren't they? You create the boogeyman then get paid to go make a bigger mess under pretense of cleaning up.

And to the poster who described a potential war as "being spanked" I'd like you to say that face to face to the 1000's of Vets sitting around in wheel chairs without limbs anymore.

Accurately, they could supposedly under the right conditions hit seattle, but they could miss and hit tacoma or the sound quite easily.

Hitting Tacoma would be even worse.

I agree, it's pretty grim. I was an Air Force officer during Reagan's regime, and as frightening as the cold war seemed to me back then (I was stationed in West Germany, where I often thought the balloon would go up any day), this seems much more frightening. There's a real madman involved this time.

Danny Himself 10.10.2006 10:52 AM

Bomb North Korea.

you are gravely mistaken. Its the United States that doesn't have the balls to use nuclear weapons.

!@#$%! 10.10.2006 01:08 PM

the use of nuclear weapons does not require balls but sheer imbecility. or to put it in the words of... i don't know who... "gonads are useful for their intended purpose, but they are no substitute for brains"

their main purpose of nukes is that of deterrence-- "you fuck me up i'll fuck you up worse". at least after nagasaki...

but of course, the u.s. is now researching small "tactical nukes" that it can use convenientely as a "bunker buster" and what not. great fucking plan, as usual focused only on immediate gains...

bah. i dont see much news in japan, i didnt know about this till my friend told me last night. it was only a few months ago they were shooting misiles out towards japan. funfunfun.
im thinking of going to hiroshima next week. nothing to do with nuclear stuff though. just for a visit.

tesla69 10.10.2006 03:34 PM

the US has developed many small nukes in the past - nuclear grenades, nuclear landmines, etc. Many of these were stashed in eastern Europe during the cold war and subsequently lost or forgotten about. I don't know if they could still function after all this time. Nukes were considered in the 50's for use in massive conrtsuction projects, i.e, the loon in Vermont who wanted to nuke some of the mountains there for a better ski slope.

The US is currently fighting a nuclear war in Iraq - and these are dirty nukes - with the use of depleted uranium. The question is what will hurt the troops in the long term more, the DU or the aluminum in the vaccines they were forced to take.
