Well, you are gay. That gives them the right to snoop. I mean, if I had a fag for a son I certainly would snoop through his shit.

Alex's Trip 12.20.2006 12:09 AM

But...they don't know. Or do they?

HaydenAsche 12.20.2006 12:11 AM

You did leave your myspace logged in. Maybe they checked your comments and the ones left on my page they were referring to.

My advice: Kill your parents.

Alex's Trip 12.20.2006 12:13 AM

My mom was the one doing it, and she isn't smart enough to figure out how to find my comments. I don't think anyway. My dad is pretty good with computers, but he isn't here now, and I don't think he would or could look at them.

My mom specifically referred to some message where I told someone what a word meant. That might not be the only thing she saw though. So who knows?

She just read that, and she's PISSED!!!!

Alex's Trip 12.20.2006 12:22 AM

No offense Mom! You just aren't the most computer savy!!!! Don't keep spying on me!

HaydenAsche 12.20.2006 12:24 AM

Haha.

You should lock your screen whenever you're not at your computer too, I always do as a precaution. They're nifty if you just want to grab food or go for a washroom break but too much of a hassle to take the effort to log off.

1. On your dektop, right click, and select new->shortcut
2. Copy and paste this into the box:
Code:

rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
3. Click next, set a name, and click finish.

The file will quickly do it for you if you're lazy like me and hate going into the start menu.

Alex's Trip 12.20.2006 12:36 AM

Edit: Nevermind

I can just hit windows + L and log off. And I just created a password for my account so it is all good.

It automatically brings you to the switch user screen, so you just type the password you set for your account

See edit...

Inhuman 12.20.2006 12:42 AM

okay cool cool! Keep me updated with how things go with your parents man, I have to head out

Alex's Trip 12.20.2006 12:46 AM

Later.

Norma J 12.20.2006 01:39 AM

It would be hard. I have no doubt they do it due to love, but I think them going overboard has more to do with an obsession with control more so than love.

I completely understand this, but if you really think about it, it's a catch 22. If they really care and love about you, wouldn't they love you enough to respect your privacy?

I hope that I am able to have an open, loving relationship with them to where they know they can tell me anything and everything so that nothing comes as a surprise.

I completely agree with this. If they snoop through your stuff, it could easily be caused by miscommunication between child and parent. If they maintain a very good relationship, I think that the son/ daughter should be able to confront their parents about it, because that's what their there for

HaydenAsche 12.20.2006 01:51 AM

Just in case,

Hi Alex's Mom. Fuck off.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 12.20.2006 01:54 AM

i just cupped my balls with my right hand

it was awesome

Norma J 12.20.2006 01:55 AM

Small balls, Crypto?

I think you are right, there is a definite line between a good loving parent and a nosy control freak. And from things you have mentioned before I think your parents go overboard. If it is any concellation though, know that they are doing this shit to you becuz they CARE about you and LOVE you! Seriously.

Now, having said that, this is the kind of crap that scares me now that I am a mama. I don't want anything bad to ever happen to my babies. I will do everything I can to teach them right and to protect them. I would die for them. If I thought by 'invading' their privacy I could save them from something bad, I might...

Aaaahhh! I don't know! Now you have me thinking too much...

I hope that I am able to have an open, loving relationship with them to where they know they can tell me anything and everything so that nothing comes as a surprise.

Thanks, Kegmama. It is good to have another Mom's perspective.

what did you say to her?
guess now that you are "protected", you wont confront more with her.

(even in best parent-children relationships, they should know that their kids dont tell them everything).

She had read a myspace message of mine in which I was talking about vocabulary words for my English class. And I had said something where I used a vocabulary word (I think it was corroboration), and she said "You're giving little English lessons online..." (something like that). I was confused and then she told me about what she did. I said, "Are you serious?" and she replied "Well, you left it logged in, but don't think we don't know about programs that record everything you do." It was pretty stupid.

Prisstina 12.20.2006 10:38 AM

My parents are alright. Usually pretty strict but have loosened up a surprising amount the last few years. A lot of rules they originally set out are gone (ie: not having a boyfriend until I'm 16; I've had one since I was 13).

I rarely get into any sort of trouble, mainly because I don't do anything worthy of getting into trouble. I guess you could say I'm a goody-goody: no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, etc. I mouth off every once in awhile, but watch not to use any "profanity" since its not taken lightly in my house. My parents have specific chores for my sibling and I to do, and I probably get in the most "trouble" for not doing those.

My parents are fairly cool. I can tell my mom about almost anything and she'll be cool about it, a little less with my dad. I only wish they'd be a little more relaxed and not worry about "family time" like they always do. They don't pressure me into doing anything and tell me straight-out how responsible, mature, and independant I am, which usually ends up with more work, chores, or things to remember. They aren't the kind of parents who spoil their kids with material stuff, buying them whatever they want. When I wanted a cell phone, I had to buy it myself. I'm on my own to buy 95% of my clothes, which has actually caused me to be much more careful about spending money. In a sense, I am spoiled, but more with experiences-- my parents have taken us on tons and tons of vacations-- which I hated at times but I know I'll fully appreciate them as I mature and get older.

As far as my parents "spying" on me, its pretty minimal. When we had one computer for everyone to share, obviously I needed to watch what I did on there. My parents bought an additional computer for my brother and I, but I once made the mistake of looking at porn on theirs. I got into some big trouble because of that and wasn't trusted on the computer for a long time. A few years later, on my own computer, I keep a system password so my parents can't look through my files. If they looked through my internet history, I'm sure I'd get a ton of shit since I don't delete any of my files. My parents try to assure me they wouldn't look through my computer and internet files anyway, but I don't exactly trust them about that.

What all this rambling is leading up to is that you should respect the fact that your parents care enough about you to check up on what you're doing. Its a cliche, but its true that the kids who don't have parents that watch over them get into trouble. Your parents are doing what they're doing because they love you and don't want anything to happen to you. It can get extremely obnoxious at times, but what would you do if you had kids? When your parents do any snooping, think about this: if you had kids, would you let them do the things they do without any supervision? Would you let them go on the internet without any sort of guidance? Probably not. They're not doing what they're doing to aggrivate you, Alex. Its only because they love you and want the relationship between you and them to be close and work out.

Trasher02 12.20.2006 10:39 AM

You're 15? I'm seriously impressed with your maturity!

EDIT - I have a feeling that makes me sound like a dirty old man...

What do you think about these obvious invasions of privacy? How would you react? Do you think it is okay for parents to do this to their children?

And...How would I know if my parents use a certain program to record all the crap that goes down on my computer? I went through my programs list and removed a couple that I don't know what they do, but I imagine it'd probably hide itself somehow and that it isn't that simple.

There is a fine line between good parenting and being really fucking controlling that my parents crossed a long time ago.

Edit: You wouldn't do this to you're kids would you, Kegmama or Gmku?

mang, how old are you? just aXing...

tell your mom you already have a girlfriend, and what she is doing is VerY wRonG.

HI ALEX'S MOM!!!!! :D

gmku 12.20.2006 01:02 PM

You know what I'd do? If I were you and my parents let me know they were snooping and confronted me about what they found to be objectionable? I'd say, "Whatever, mom." And you have to do this very nonchalantly like you just don't care, and it's best if done with the hand signals (first three fingers of one hand, first up for the W and then down for the M--an 80s thing), and with a big roll of the eyes and a half shrug.

Then the next time you're alone in the house, I'd go snoop through all their dresser drawers. You might be surprised what you could find and use later for ammunition if they do this again.

Luckily, I live with parents who are cool.

They only bitch about cleaning and grades.

king_buzzo 12.20.2006 02:06 PM

my mom looked at my desktop, while i was on here, someone posted lesbian porn and my mom looked at it

Inhuman 12.20.2006 02:56 PM

I had another episode with my mom today. She didn't really ask me to do anything this morning, and when she came home and the cutlery from the dishwasher wasn't put away, she started loudly yelling "SCREW YOU ROB. SCREW YOU". I told her she was really overreacting and it's not that big of a deal and I'd do it right away, but I decided to just go to my room and pet my cat for a while because it's no way to really motivate me to work. So she bought me phone time and I got my cheque in the mail today, and so now I'm happy again
