I've onlt got Ambient II and the Come To Daddy EP but i'm pissing desperate to get some more stuff. Annoyingly, the first Ambient album has been bloody deleted. Actually I think some other stuff of his has been deleted too. Bah!. Drugks will be the next purschase then maybe Richard D. James after that.
He's playing in Manchester soon but the fucker has sold out and there's no way I'm giving a tout some money. Conclusion-He's next to Kraftwerk in terms of innovation in Electronic music. |
Yeah, Druqks then Richard D. James album, that's a good order.
Just got Drukgs today and got it playing. Mad as fucking cheese
That means good, yes?
Drukqs is a wonderful album... But lots of his fans don't like it, because it's not more of the same Aphex Acid Drill n Bass... It's definitely something else... It can get quite creepy and atmospheric at times, which was probably what got his techno fans all hot and bothered...
Yes that is a good thing. I'm gonna 'absorb' it (man that read so pretentious) a bit, then I'll buy Richard D James. So far I think I prefer the second disk.

Have u checked out Rubber Johnny?
Who the hel is that? No, no I haven't checked it out.
Rubber Johnny is very cool. I watched it yesterday.
Man that's fuckin bizzare
Wait a minute. What track from drukqs is it? |
It's a remixed version of Afx237 V7
Just looked up about it on Wikipedia. Thanks for showing us that.
He's playing Manchester which is near where I live but the pissing thing has sold out. After that gig he's doing ATP in minehead which is also sold out. I might have to beg, borrow or steal to go and see him. Have you seen him play before? |
No, unfortunately... but i imagine the effect will be mindblowing.
Aphex Twin gigs are likely to be full of IDM snobs anyway. They'll complain if one bass drum beat is out of time. I never got how live dance gigs worked anyway. Would Richard just stand up front and play a record and go "Ok guys, these are my tunes"? It'd still be a good show though.
I was reading in a magazine about how during one of his gigs he started to play with an electric sander running on the turntable and the went onto putting the reciever(?) into a blender. Really can't see many pilled up fans loving that. :D

Haha no I don't think he'd do that. I can imagine a fair bit would be improvised. |
How do you improvise dance music? Does he have a big computer on stage? Excuse my noobiness to the electronica scene despite being part of it.
From what I've seen he's just got two turntables then he'll mix what songs he wants. Though I find it hard to imagine him not having a laptop of which he'll use as a synth. Hang on I'll try and find out what he uses.
yeah he uses a laptop, MIDI mixer, an analog mixer and a sampler. Yeah I've no idea what half of them do too. |
I'll read it tomorrow. I'm about to hit the hay.
Ok night.
