And the advice for today is:

Be Kinder To Your Vagina

that's what you end up at when you google for TOTM, which is also the name of the support band I'll be going to on Friday. They have one EP out on Soundcloud, it's weird but quite OK. Styles are all over the place, from CSNY harmonies to Nils Frahm, to Mogwai / 65daysofstatic post-rock. And that even in the same song!
Anyway, so their website is probably not https://www.totm.com/

edit: this video of them is quite brilliant: https://vimeo.com/193427577

Anyone ever experiment with CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive component of Cannabis that seems to have a wide range of therapeutic benefits.

I keep getting spam trying to sell me CBD Gummie Bears. I'm really, really tempted.

Rob Instigator 05.31.2017 03:00 PM

CBD's are one type of chemical found in weed. THC is another. CBD's provide physical effects, reducing pain, swelling, providing appetite, etc. THC is a mental/nervous system effect. If you eat CBD gummies you will feel therapeutic effects but you will NOT get high.

opponents of marihuana reform claim that CBD's are the only good to come out of weed and that all the weed sold in dispensaries for recreational use is devoid of CBD's so it is "bad." so stupid. Two different chemicals for two different effects.

evollove 05.31.2017 03:14 PM

Yes. I know. Ever eaten any? I want to hear some real world experiences.

EVOLghost 05.31.2017 03:28 PM

I've had edibles, but none with strictly CBD. I think most edibles are basically made for medicinal purposes. It's a little hard for me to get high even though they're primarily THC.

Rob Instigator 05.31.2017 04:08 PM

I have. it eased road soreness (driving for 9 hours) and allowed me to fall asleep quickly

evollove 06.01.2017 06:03 AM

Sweet. I love being high, but sleep and appetite and general relaxation are good too. I'm gonna buy a few different brands til I find my favorite. Thanks.

Severian 06.01.2017 06:32 AM

So... you can use these CBDs to relieve pain/exhaustion/stress without actually having the godawful experience of being stoned?

WHERE DO I GET?
HOW MUCH?
Legalish?

evollove 06.01.2017 07:11 AM

You interested?

Yeah, I've come across enough "Legal in all 50 states!" to convince me.

I google "CBD Gummies" and get a bunch of results.

So far I've learned Diamond brand uses weird synthetics and should be avoided.

Let's team up and figure this out. Could be a life-changer.

EVOLghost 06.01.2017 08:27 AM

So....it looks like I'll be moving at the end of the summer? Or at least planning to.

Washington is the destination.

It's legitimately legal? How about federally?

If it's legal then goddamn right I'm interested. I have to take a few medications to help with pain, stress, sleep and other issues, so I'm always open to alternatives that won't be habit forming or mildly life-controlling. I'm on baby doses of these things (all long-term, legal, legit prescriptions mind you) but they still pose a problem in that I have to plan my life around not running out, or forgetting to call for refills. I would especially love to be rid of the pain med, because I fear the "epidemic" rhetoric is going to lead to a witch hunt and that lgood doctors and people with legitimate pain problems will suffer.

I fucking hate getting high... makes me freak the fuck out.

My girlfriend sometimes has "gummies," but to hear her talk about it, they definitely fuck people up, so perhaps she's talking about THC edibles?

I know CBDs have been shown to be effective anti-seizure treatments for children, but I didn't know they helped with pain, sleep, stress.

First things first: How legal are they and do they require a Rx?

!@#$%! 06.01.2017 09:19 AM

really quickly to say since cannabidiol is not psychoactive it's been already been prescribed for years & years already to various kinds of terminal patients

if you just want a cannabidiol-heavy weed get an indica, though that's not as reliable/consistent as a purified compound obviously

but why not want to get high? that's the best part ha ha ha ha

...

well, yeah, okay

I guess only THC is illegal, not the other stuff. Who knew.

Based on light research, it is perfectly legal. No rx needed.

Here's one company's page, just to give you an idea. I'm not vouching for this particular brand. In fact, I was hoping someone else could tell me where to go and where to avoid.

Wait, THC is legal but not CBD? But light research says CBD is legal?

Speak words, man!

Rob Instigator 06.01.2017 11:02 AM

in Texas CBD's are allowed for some severe medical cases.

Severian 06.01.2017 07:00 PM

Ok, so the non-druggy shit is illegal, and the druggy shit is legal?

Makes perfect sense.

Well, that fucking sucks. I'm not doing any illegal stuff.

it's the other way around man

both are drugs

the psychoactive stuff is illegal in most states right now (but that should change)

the non-psychoactive stuff is legal with prescription and the scientists are working on it

basically, medical marijuana is kinda like XIX century medicine. arnica tincture. root decoctions. eye of newt.

what science is trying to do is isolate the compounds and put them into a pill/patch/injection/whatever for maximum benefits and minimum side effects.

personally, i want side effects! makes ideas more vivid. but if say i'm an astronaut who develops pain while doing a 6-month stint at an orbital station maybe the psychoactive parts are best avoided. right?

which makes me wonder how many people have gotten stoned in space. there's gotta be a few. confess!

anyway other uses: sea captains. heart surgeons. electrical linemen. etc.
