and then the only way to get shit done is to have "connections" instead of money. "i have friend who knows the minister", that sort of thing. bribes are often required. instead of free lawful exchanges you have patronage and corruption.

i mean. if you don't like capitalism, let's put 3 more tenants in your house, and a block captain to report your transgressions.

seriously, capitalism puts the scarcity problem at the forefront of your decisions. socialism pretends it can do away with scarcity but it's lies. this is why venezuelans can't even buy asswipe or wash their hands with soap.

but hey maybe you know somebody who knows somebody at the housing department or the mayor's office and they can bump you in the line... for discreet fee

haaahaaaahaaaaa

norway is lucky to have at the moment massive oil revenues and per capita income which allows them to have a welfare state of that kind

so does saudi arabia, emirates, etc

how come nobody ever mentions the saudis

let's have an absolute monarchy

one could create a similar cartoon about “i hate capitalism” etc. to point at the absurdity notions.

also im not a professional wrestler or whoever those people are, and don’t discuss things by yelling throwing chairs etc

but anyway make room in your house bud im moving in with 4 destructive pets and pizza-greasy fingers i am entitled to rub on your couch, since private property should not exist and that couch belongs to the people :D

Good luck getting past my moat, it's full of Faygo!

lmao

we your new tenants of the people will drink all the faygo like a pack of zombies, cross the moat, and accidentally clog the toilets!

anyway funny story, in recent times norwegians have been hiring swedes as servants, which is historically hilarious. but looks like the trend might be reversing.

there are a bazillion problems with this meme if you take a minute to think it through

1) new mexico public school teachers receive modest pay but get good benefits. i don't know why walter had to work at a fucking car wash. if he had become a nationally certified teacher (something he had the capacity to do) he would have doubled his pay. plus there are things they can do like coaching for extra money.

2) teacher pay is low but they work only nine months: 2 weeks off for the holidays, a week off fall break, a week off spring break, plus two months vacation. a lot of teachers work summer school for the loot.

3)there's a union contract and get very good health insurance. the maximum out of pocket this year is $4000 per family, and deductibles run between $750 to $2000 per person. this is, oh, a decade after? the employer pays the bulk of the premiums. there's also dental, vision, life, long term disability, plus other options.

see here:
https://nmpsia.com/PDFs/2018-07%20Be...2018-07-13.pdf

4) in addition to this there is catastrophic and umbrella coverage for things like cancer. ever heard of AFLAC? he should have gotten AFLAC.

5) the reason walter white turn to meth is because he had emotional/psychological problems. this is why he left his company, this is why he had a shitty marriage, this is why he turned to crime.

so, hm, tv is not reality, but even tv needs to be watched critically

but now i wanna go rewatch that first episode lololol

The point of the meme is that the premise of the show is relative enough for Breaking Bad to not only break record numbers, but win multiple Golden Globe & Emmy awards. Walter's situation shouldn't be conceivable.

I'll quit pushing your buttons, it's Saturday night and I have busywork.

We're comrades after all *teehee*

(you make pretty good refutes for every point I bring up though, and I commend that)

hah hah, yes tovarish

it’s all good man, i am glad to clarify ideas and mistaken notions that politicians use to manipulate people and get votes, and it does not push my buttons.

i am not a man of faith and i change my mind often, but i need a convincing argument to do that.

propaganda doesn’t work too well on me. so, sell me a good idea and i’ll gladly buy it on its merits. bad ideas go through the shredder, lol.

i agree with the premise that health care is fucked up. obamacare reduced the number of ininsured by 20 million people, but lately it’s on the rise again.

and yes part of the problem is the clusterfuck that is the health insurance industry. but i dont believe that a government takeover of the health care system is the answer though. that is a heavy and radical move that amounts to an expropriation that would break a huge sector of the economy and put it under government control.

a public option for those who wanna buy it, though? sure, why not, as long as it pays for itself and doesn’t require life support from the rest of the economy and becomes a drag on the budget.

!@#$%! 02.17.2019 10:52 AM

here’s a good argument FOR single payer actually

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politic...th-care-system

of course the devil is in the details, and for his anecdote about him not having a problem in germany i have another anecdote about a person being unable to find a provider because everyone is booked up. so maybe not all is gold with the german system.

https://www.eyeworld.org/doctors-short-supply

everyone has problems. there are no magic solutions. everywhere there are tradeoffs. see: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-38899811

anyway, great discussion, and something will have to happen one way or another because with the current system neither patients nor doctors are in charge, so everyone must kowtow to incomprehensible and byzantyne insurance schemes.

taking over 20% of the economy with the stroke of a pen is easier said than done though...

from that article it looks like switzerland would be a better model for us as we’re already halfway there with current law and it preserves private enterprise while reducing costs and optimizing outcomes.

Yesterday the T20 cricket team I support won the tournament, and I was there to see it!

---

I'm currently waiting for the teacher to arrive in my Specialist Maths class, and for a while there were just two people in the room - me and another kid who I haven't gotten on well with.

I don't want to be offensive or anything, but he's possibly autistic - he picks things out of bins and stuff like that. And I'm kinda scared of him after an incident from last year (I was waiting outside class, then he went up to me and just started stroking my arm - it was really creepy and I was on edge for a lot that day).

He was actually in the class before me, and I would have rather waited outside to avoid him. But then he opened the door, and I didn't want to be rude so I accepted and sat in my usual place, far away from him.

Just figured I should get that out.

!@#$%! 02.17.2019 05:16 PM

autistic math person? lol you don’t say... xD

(yeah probably)

anyway chocster are you interested in fashion? i am really not but found an article that might interest you. don’t know what’s in it cuz my eyes glazed. but judging by the headline...

I mean, there's a specialist school literally next door, so the fact that he's not going there suggests that he's really quite good at stuff. It's just...who knows what's going on?

I did have a look at that, mostly because it's interesting to see what kind of stuff people would make if they ditched the (stupid) binary framework. That said, advanced fashion doesn't really intrigue me - some of it can look kinda stupid.

I'm unexplorative. Just give me comfy shit - I like stripes. :D

My English Language teacher has used The Simpsons as an example in class.

English Language teacher: "Put your phone away."
Girl I'm friends with: *drops her phone on the table*
Me: "Not where he can see it..."
Girl: *opens her textbook to a random page, puts the phone there, and closes the pages of her textbook*
