High school was horrid. No money, not feeling comfortable in my own skin, learning how to differentiate "there, their, they're " ad nauseum (some people still fuck this up). Dumb jocks, pep rallies, awful food, MATH, etc.

Only thing that didn't suck were the art kids, pretty girls, and burnout punk kids

So glad I dropped out and went to film school instead. Never regretted it.

Can do this anyway, so doesn't affect me.

Fortunately I avoid these guys as much as possible. Unfortunately, that's not 100% of the time.

Some of my friends last year were art kids. And yeah, the pretty girls are alright, even if a lot of them have stupid fake tan and eyelashes.

I've known for most of my life that what I'll be doing will be a desk thing - wanted to be a sports journalist, but I've kind of moved away from that - so this is going to be the path for me. I have been told uni will be great, so that's my incentive.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.20.2019 12:45 AM

When you get older, a lot of those cliquey stereotypes dissipate. At 28, just saying "dumb jocks" feels laughable. There's definitely more meatheaded adults though, and the sports bars are full of them.

A lot of those kids end up becoming like real estate agents, or truck drivers, or some shit. Some I know even became vegan chefs, or make ice sculptures, and other creative endeavors. Even some of those preppy girls I used to awkwardly lust after became more hippie-ish and began going to music festivals on the regular. The others are moms and hairdressers

You never know how someone really feels on the inside or what someone goes home to every night. Just know that you're all just a bunch of Australian kids, from the captain of your soccer team, to that weirdo in the anime club and fingerless gloves. Be nice to everyone, and showcase intrigue. You'll be shocked at just how human everyone is, fake tans and all.

Oh also, make sure you go to college while you're still young. As an adult, going back for my bachelor's just feels increasingly absurd. I lucked out w my house

Sorry if it feels like I'm lecturing all the time

I just like advising. My gf says I'd make a great dad lol

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.21.2019 01:50 PM

I'm working on this impression called "stereotypical Mexican guy who really enjoys Deftones"

My gf thinks its racist, but i swear EVOLghost w and old laugh

EVOLghost 02.21.2019 03:13 PM

Can’t hate. It’s true. I had an image already in my head and I already am trying not to laugh at work.

It's kind of a bittersweet feeling when you see someone cute who you don't really know and don't have an opportunity to.

e.g. a girl at school in the year above me. I noticed her in assembly (though I've seen her a few times), and she is pretty attractive (boyish hair, blonde, glasses). But we don't have any classes together and it'd be very awkward/stalkerish to just go up to her at lunch, especially considering we've never spoken.

(I'm not a stalker or a pervert.)
(Also, she's a friend of the first crush I had after moving here. Another bittersweet thing, although way more bitter than sweet.)

i am glad i grew up in a time when walking up to a girl and talking to her wasn’t considered “perverted”

i’m now ready for the undertaker, thanks!

choc e-Claire 02.21.2019 09:23 PM

You do have a point.

But I mean, I spend time online, I've seen that a lot of shit's happened, and I'd be hugely embarrassed and feel really guilty if I crossed boundaries and made someone feel comfortable.

Feelings are stupid

!@#$%! 02.21.2019 10:05 PM

no i mean—for all i know it might be perverted

i no longer know anything anymore

im a dinosaur

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.21.2019 10:25 PM

Claire, if you see her again - say something. Anything. Compliment something she's wearing, and/or say "Hey, aren't you _____'s friend?" (don't mention they're your crush), and let her know your name. Ask for her's. Good luck.

Talking to a girl isn't harassment. If she shoots you down and you persist or antagonize her, that's harassment. You need to be bold or you'll spend your whole life wondering "what if". Believe me, she's probably nice.

choc e-Claire 02.22.2019 12:31 AM

I think my best plan is to ask if I can sit near them at lunch or something, then try and find a way to join the conversation.

This is a kid who, when we discussing gun deaths in the United States, looked at suicides by under-15s and said all the year sevens should go do it.

Update: when this guy made a quiz for us all to play, he included three jokes about penises. In class.

It really is amazing, with how many times I've swallowed liquid in my life that I can still manage to choke on it.

choc e-Claire 02.26.2019 02:15 PM

I know it doesn't say it is at the bottom, but it is in my time zone and if you wait you'll miss it, so...

Happy birthday to me!

You get no happy birthdays from me until it's the 27th.

My Mrs keeps asking me what I want to do for my birthday and I have not a clue. I mean, it's 33. Who gives a fuck! I'd just be happy to watch the football with some wine.

I felt bad because I couldn't really say what I wanted when I was asked. But I'll get them in a few hours, and I'll probably be happy with them anyway.

choc e-Claire 02.26.2019 05:11 PM

Specialist Maths teacher wasn't here for Period 1 so we've just gone to the library.

SAC on Monday, for perhaps the first time ever I'm stressing about a Maths test
