Anyone listen to Wu-Block yet? Thoughts?

I feel like I'm gonna need a solid, official, full length Wu studio album pretty soon or my brain might explode. I haven't been keeping up on news much, aside from seeing them on my Facebook news feed, so maybe some shit is in the works and I don't know about it. I hope so, because these side projects and solo ventures aren't really hitting the spot. And I don't need to hear anymore Wu - mash up's.

Seriously, bring tha mutha fuckin ruckus.

And the beat selection is a bit diff than what he'd put on a solo album for sure. But def even the skits feel like a Ghost album. I think this will fly under everyone's radar for sure. But it's worth seeking out. Probably even more solid than the album Ghost made with Trife (Put It On The Line) for instance.

There's some standouts I'm feeling already...

"Driving Around" is just amazing. Erykah Badu skatting, Masta Killah & GZA showing up and dropping some excellent flows over this ridiculously chill beat. Feels like the kinda thing you'd listen to driving around with nowhere to go at night. I think it's the only song WITHOUT Ghost on it, but it's incredible nonetheless.

It's impressive though. I felt like I'd consider this just a Ghost-sideproject to tide me over until the proper solo album... but I already have a handful of tracks I keep going back to. It's a super solid album dudes. Look into it.

I was going to say something about not having read much of the thread, mostly out of laziness and exhaustion, but I was feeling too lazy and exhausted.

It is a good album, and I've been playing it a lot.

Now I'm the only black in the club with rich Yuppie kids
Sad thing, this is the top, but where the hustlers went

It's all safe and sound, champagne by the bucket

went from "I don't know if I feel this Kendrick Lamar album" to "this is fucking album of the year" pretty rapidly.

louder 12.08.2012 06:09 AM

word, that album is amazing. groundbreaking. emotional. positive.

i like how at least half of the tracks have that classic WC vibe.

probably my 2nd fav rap album of the decade so far, after My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

I don't think it HAS to. I hate political music anyway. But I think this album is positive in the sense that it's a lot about peer pressure and decisions and well trying to be a "good kid" haha.

ps, seriously though. I like talking to you when you converse like this. But sometimes I feel like yr dickish to me for no clear reason.

noisereductions 12.08.2012 03:07 PM

alright that's fine then. BLA BLA BLA haha.

as far as the Kendrick album goes though... for me more than anything I think the beats are incredible. I love the production on taht album so much. And his delivery is ridiculous. I just think it's such a high quality album .

louder 12.08.2012 03:09 PM

Jay Rock's verse on "Money Trees". oh lord.

noisereductions 12.08.2012 03:11 PM

louder, I'm trying to make a list (so I can make a mix) of every Jay-Z/Kanye collab track that isn't from Watch The Throne...
