Oh yes, and I drank Faygo while watching it.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 01.03.2010 02:27 PM

I really, really want to see Daybreakers when it comes out.

wow. Is this as amusing in real life as it is in my mind?

Daybreakers does look good.

Keeping It Simple 01.03.2010 02:59 PM

"Daybreakers" seems to be a novel twist on Richard Matheson's brilliant book, "I Am Legend". In my opinion though, the UK TV serial "Ultraviolet" is the best drama I've seen which revolves around vampires. It was brilliant.

What always surprises me, is just how hard it makes me laugh every time I watch it. John Brennan (Jerky Boys), and Harland Williams are especially hilarious in this. Also, look forward to cameos from the Misfits, Mick Foley, Dolemite, and "Re-run".

The self referential humor all falls flat ( consistently making fun of it's own budget, etc.), and the acting is as horrendous as you'd expect, but something about the film is relentlessly charming. Maybe it's the facepaint.

As bad as it likely looks, but you see a lot of female nudity so it may just be worth keeping for stupid reasons.

noisereductions 01.03.2010 05:14 PM

^WTF is that?

nicfit 01.03.2010 05:22 PM

unfuckwithable

Savage Clone 01.03.2010 05:25 PM

Naturally. It works on both the Monster Level and the Robot Level.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 01.03.2010 07:08 PM

I love Robot Monster! :D

I saw it mentioned in an article from Wired Magazine about a production company that basically does really bad knockoffs of "good" movies. Good meaning they have done stuff similar to Transformers and Alien Vs Predator etc.

THE LIMITS OF CONTROL - 8/10
This is Jarmusch's best film by far. Anyone else reminded of Killer 7? Didn't realize Boris on Sunn and the Black Angels were on the soundtrack. Great film... ohh, just looked online and it has the worst reviews of any film he's ever done. Hilarious.

FAT GIRL - 5/10

Meh.

BLOW-UP - 8/10

Not as good as Blow Out, but good in a different way..

SONGS FROM THE SECOND FLOOR - 9/10

Incredible.

noisereductions 01.05.2010 08:11 AM

Killer7 rules

Keeping It Simple 01.05.2010 03:52 PM

Avatar has rocked in the box office.

the first 20 minutes is devastating. Seriously. Some of the most emo 20 minutes of a movie in years.

Is this taking ticket prices into account? Movie tickets certainly cost more these days than they did when Titanic came out in 1997, and what about the additional charge for the IMAX and 3d glasses? I'd be more interested in seeing the amount of tickets sold.

Yeah, a bit actually. I liked it a lot and it's sad that it has got such bad reviews, but it's by no means his best work in my opinion. Down By Law is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I think both Dead Man and Stranger Than Paradise are better. But sure it's a great movie, I agree with the 8/10.

I think I gave it 3 out of 5 stars on Netflix.

atsonicpark 01.06.2010 10:47 PM

"the most experimental"?

Haaha. Somehow, I doubt that.

krastian 01.06.2010 10:51 PM

Yeah, the documentary wasn't experimental unless you consider following around a rich addict hoping he doesn't get pissed at you as "experimental."

it's not experimental at all. But it is good. It shows pretty much no insight into his music. But it's a good fly-on-the-wall view of a super-talented, hard-working drug addict who is dealing with way too much fame/money at way too young an age.

(if anybody is surprised that I'm so obsessed with him, check my Lindsay Lohan obsession and it should make some sense -- BTW she's IN this documentary for like a split second at the end! She just walks by! It's like the director called her up and was like, "look, Linds... you KNOW NR is gonna be watching this thing....")

demonrail666 01.07.2010 10:00 AM

A bit dissapointed with this one. It starts off OK but then just gets sillier and sillier. Worth seeing for the bloke selling deckchairs, though.

It's rare that a movie can meet, or even exceed its hype the way this one did.

looking glass spectacle 01.07.2010 12:14 PM

i'd have to see it again to say more, but i was blown away by the use of color. to date i've only seen breathless and alphaville. (i saw parts of weekend years ago, but didn't have a context for them.) the constant soundtrack interuptions were fascinating as well. at some point i gave up trying to listen for what was being masked out. then i found that while the airplane noise etc had originally been then center of my listening focus it eventually forced my focus to the snippets i could hear in a way i would not have listened had i been able to hear all of it. like not paying attention to one thing as a way of paying more attention to detail elsewhere...

I know. Incredible. Tense. Funny. Sad. Just a great film.

chicka 01.07.2010 01:13 PM

Saw Avatar in 2D and I enjoyed the story very much despite the hollywood ending that you knew was coming with Cameron. Now I can go back and see it 3d and be wowed by the graphics....
