What does it take to answer an e-mail? For weeks I've queried a client who has promised an assignment. He keeps answering that he'll get back to me. I've let it go for a few weeks now, thinking he just needs time.

Several times this week though I sent e-mails asking what's up with the assignment. No answer. Today I lost my patience and sent a note to his superior, asking what's up. Within five minutes, I get a pissed off reply from the guy that he's "not avoiding" me just still trying to "get his ducks together" and he doesn't want to "waste anyone's time."

Is this guy a jerk, or am I? What would you do?

I mean, what does it take to answer a simple e-mail and say, Sorry, I'm not ready to tell you anything yet.

He also makes promises to call me "next week" and never does.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 09.19.2008 05:00 PM

I just tuned my guitar to
DDD#EGG(LOW TO HIGH)

First note is an octave and a whole step down.
Second note is down a whole step.
Third note is down 11 steps.
Fourth note is an octave below standard high E.
Last two notes are the same as standard G

and it's really fun.
Though I may change it a bit, making it a little more standard.

I figured out today I have a really serious sleeping disorder.

At staying up for more than 20 hours straight I found that I couldn't keep my eyes shut for longer than 3 seconds.
And now with staying up for more than 48 hours with 4 hours of sleep...
So I'm gonna go see a shrink to see if he'll give me sleeping meds.

MellySingsDoom 09.19.2008 06:16 PM

tc - I hope that you get that sleeping thing sorted out - insomnia is a killer.

terriblecanyons 09.19.2008 06:18 PM

Here's to hoping the bill won't be too big if I do go to a shrink.

The grand total of the foot issue is about $1000.

MellySingsDoom 09.19.2008 06:20 PM

Jesus H thingy - ouch!

Irrelevance - life is OK now, but something makes me feel, um, well....

terriblecanyons 09.19.2008 06:22 PM

It's expensive to break your foot nowadays I guess.

PM me Melly, so you can elaborate.

Took sleeping meds last night to get to sleep.
Now I feel like a zombie.

reginald 09.20.2008 10:30 AM

Is it irrelevant to ask how long this board was down ?

I couldnt get on last night...was it down long or just my server ?

MellySingsDoom 09.20.2008 10:31 AM

reginald - I couldn't get on either. Maybe Mr Habib's been knocking back the cooking sherry again, and fell over the server in a drunken stupor...

PAULYBEE2656 09.20.2008 10:32 AM

I would kill for some fresh warm bread with just butter and honey

EMMAh 09.20.2008 05:40 PM

I'm having spaghetti in a few minutes.

I remember being in grade three or some thing and asking my teacher how to spell spaghetti and she didn't know.

al shabbray 09.20.2008 05:42 PM

hahahaha
spaghetti are just somethign I could eat every time the day, for the rest of my life.

Derek 09.20.2008 05:44 PM

I had spaghetti tonight, it was good.

EMMAh 09.20.2008 05:51 PM

Mmmmhmmm, spaghetti will be a life long favorite.

Mine contains:

Red and green, pepper, broccoli, celery, tomato, zucchini, union, and garlic. Along with various spices and what not.

al shabbray 09.20.2008 05:53 PM

damn, I really wanna eat:

spaghetti with anything
said bread with butter and honey
cheesecake

plus watching 2-10 episodes of twin peaks. that would be my heaven right now, but I only got 5 (!?) mozzarellas

Derek 09.20.2008 05:57 PM

I really wish I had a pepsi.

EMMAh 09.20.2008 05:58 PM

Cheese cake would be lovely!

al shabbray 09.20.2008 06:01 PM

oh yes.
and while watching twin peaks you would enjoy every cake a lot more

MellySingsDoom 09.20.2008 06:01 PM

Poppadoms and beer.

That is all.

Pookie 09.20.2008 06:03 PM

I'm eating some apple cake made by me and my daughter. We picked the apples a couple of days ago.

MellySingsDoom 09.20.2008 06:04 PM

Pookie - you've just reminded me of my childhood in Milton Keynes, when we used to steal apples from trees. Happy criminal days! I trust that the apple cake is most good?

al shabbray 09.20.2008 06:05 PM

apple cake cant be bad!!! its the best you can do with apples

Pookie 09.20.2008 06:06 PM

It's glorious cake.

The tree we picked the apples from is growing wild, so I don't think it's stealing. We were going to pick blackberries as well, but it's just past blackberry season, so they weren't very nice.

We made an apple crumble which is in the freezer waiting for just the right occasion.

He reminded me of childhood too.

My grandparents use to have apple trees (well, they still do they just don't harvest them anymore) and my grandpa would rid us out there in a trailer on the back of the lawn tracker. We'd spend a while picking and eating apples, then we'd come inside and peal and core them with this crazy contraption. My grandma's dog got to eat all the peels and we made pie with the rest (besides the core obviously)
