The Phish-related film OUTSIDE OUT is actually amazing...

phoenix 03.12.2010 07:32 AM

alice. Everyone has been saying it was awful(and it wasn't superb, bit too cheesy) but the visuals were all so lovely. Want to be lost in a forest like that forever.

atsonicpark 03.12.2010 08:02 AM

the jan svanjkmyer version, I assume? Hah.

yes & yes!

batreleaser 03.12.2010 11:37 AM

Just re-watched "Up in the Air" on dvd, and loved it this time. Say what you will about Clooney (like he's a self important deauche bag with little acting range) but he excels in these old man roles. Anna Kendrick was probably the best thing about it, just cute and witty and with a big rack and not intimidated at all by a-listers when she is known for nothing other than a cameo in the much-maligned "Twilight" franchise. Also great cameos from Zach Galifinakis and Danny McBride.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is on tv, but its got to the point where I've seen it so often on tv, I can't bear to watch it anymore.

atsonicpark 03.16.2010 01:38 AM

complete history of my sexual failures - 8/10

this documentary is insane.. this guy goes and interviews his ex girlfriends.. so honest and.. wrong.

fugazifan 03.16.2010 02:01 AM

9/10
i took off a point because of the ending.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*******************

i just thought that killing the guy ruined the wonderful static exsistence that was built during the movie. i mean it seemed like a cop out that after a three hour tedious (yes wonderful) movie she had to insert a surprise ending instead of letting it be tedious until the end.

atsonicpark 03.16.2010 02:42 AM

That's how I felt too, fugazifan. I felt like it was a copout, or a punchline, like the film needed this kind of conclusion to be marketable, to have a "point", to render the first 3 hours as a big setup to such a ridiculous ending. I think they could have done without the stabbing. The bored sex scene alone was probably enough of a conclusion...

adam, i don't know if you've seen it but i left a shout on last.fm about the Robe. track Sweat (live) from the Flesh album. whenever i listen to it it reminds me of Tokyo Gore Police?!?

atsonicpark 03.16.2010 04:00 AM

haha that's weird. it was made way before TGP, or even machine girl, was released.

Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Moon 9/10
I really loved this. Reminds me thatthere are still ways to make hard sci-fi movies. This and primer give me hope for the hard sci-fi genre in film

I saw it yesterday and loved it. I was unaware it was set up as a 'sequel' and I really liked that take on the story. Yeah, it kind of lurches from scene to scene but I think that kind of fits with the story.

And yes, the visuals were incredible. As good if not better than Avatar. Certainly not less fantastic.

Derek 03.17.2010 01:32 PM

Honestly, what one are you talking about? I guess it's the Tim Burton one but there's a reinterpretation by Jan Svankmajer simply called Alice.

The bold, self-aggrandising statement at the top of the poster for Santa Sangre makes me laugh.

fugazifan 03.17.2010 04:36 PM

santa sanagre was amazing.
like really.
amazing

hevusa 03.17.2010 04:55 PM

Skrink
Not bad.

atsonicpark 03.17.2010 06:18 PM

Santa Sangre's pretty cool. It has its moments. Reminded me a lot of a Zulawski film, really. Wonder why it's never been officially issued here on DVD.

speaking of zulawski...
