saw this last night. finally. very sad. it is sad to see how many lives he has ruined, or severely damaged. mental illness is a motherfucker.

I remember in 1992, the Univ of Houston student program Board set up a daniel johnston concert. I was a member, and got to set up for him and meet him and his handlers. at the time we did not know that he ahd gone off his meds, which as stated in the m,ovie he did surreptitiously before gigs so he would be looser, and he played theshow and it was crazy and then I escorted him downstairs with the ghandlers from the austin mental hospital, and I met his mom. the next week we got word that that night of the U of H show, he snuck out of the hotel and ended up in Florida 3 days later.
we 3were all like whoah....

Religulous. I have enjoyed Bill maher's work in DC Cab, I am glad he has made this movie, even though of course it is "flawed" but what isn't? (jaysus~!!!)
I enjoyed it, and found it hard to watch, not because he is outright mean, but because I have many similar confrontation issues with my mom and family, for I am anti-theist in the strongest sense of the word, and their beliefs are non-sensical and destructive to me.

while not a GREAT movie, and while Maher can come off as an annoying guy, I am sad that as he mentioned, so many doubting believers will NOT watch this movie, which could help them begin to sort out their doubts about their respective faiths.

fuck all religions. They are the last false social construct that holds back humanity and will, if not actively FOUGHT AGAINST, crush humans back into dark age horror.

What a romantic.

Anyway,

Motor Psycho. 4/10. One of my least favourite Meyers. For a relatively short film this seems to go on forever.

Good Morning ... and Goodbye. 6/10. One of the most underrated Russ Meyer films IMO. Some real moments of brilliance.

Toilet & Bowels 03.25.2010 08:42 PM

good if a little tenuous at the end

atsonicpark 03.26.2010 07:40 AM

angel city - 9/10

demonrail666 03.27.2010 05:29 AM

on a bit of a russ meyer kick right now.

Vixen! 7/10. Maybe my favourite RM film

Supervixens. 5/10. Bits of it are great but it goes on forever.

Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens. 6/10. In some ways I think this is the ultimate Russ Meyer film, if not the best.

I saw one of his movies once on tv years ago. It was very reminiscent of the UK's Confessions series of sex comedies. Lame slapstick and pantomimic sex was what they offered. Instantly forgettable movies only liked by the moronic fans of trashy titillation.

I watched From Dusk Till Dawn. The first 45 min were really good, until it got to the terrible special effects and demons, then I turned it off.

Your opinion is moot.

clockwork orange with my girlfriend (she has never seen it)
badlands (she had also never seen that)
and
pasoloni's decameron
and
fellini's satyricon
all of them are excellent

Damn, it was really THAT good!

it was fine.

really liked this.

watched the director's cut, with the lame cgi-stuff.

I enjoyed the book, haven't seen the picture yet, hope it's good.

My first Truffaut. Quite good, kid's a genius actor.

demonrail666 03.30.2010 12:54 PM

More Russ Meyer.

Comon Law Cabin. 5/10. Solid but unspectacular Meyer.

Cherry, Harry and Raquel. 6/10. Underrated Meyer.

Also, last night.

Logan's Run. 5/10. Alright, but only really enjoyable because of Jenny Agutter's bum.

"The Road" was decent and I love John Hillcoat and the Garret Dillahunt cameo was great but it really didn't live up to the prose of McCarthy's novel. I hope Todd Field does a good job with "Blood Meridian", probably the most ambitious novel adaptation since "Moby Dick", which sucked as a film.

Anyone else hear that Cronenberg and Mortensen are doing a sequel to "Eastern Promises", oh fuck yeah!

And I watched "Brazil" and the first season of "it's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" last night.

Trasher02 03.30.2010 05:43 PM

Great film

atsonicpark 03.30.2010 11:39 PM

Have seen this before but finally got the pristine dvd, and just had to post this image..

...godard in sunglasses and a hat. Seriously.

10/10

demonrail666 03.31.2010 06:34 PM

Yet more Meyer.

UP! 4/10. I can never decide if this feels like Jess Franco trying to make a Russ Meyer movie or vice versa. Either way, not very good.

!@#$%! 03.31.2010 06:48 PM

fuck the tablets, this guy however rules

too much clooney. precious was actually quite hardcore.

demonrail666 03.31.2010 09:09 PM

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. 7/10. Not my favourite Meyer (Vixen) but very much up there.

batreleaser 03.31.2010 11:16 PM

"Up in the Air" was hard to not love, in my opinion. Anna Kendrick's performance was the best I've seen from a "Who the fuck is that?" actress in a long time. Great cameos, Zach Gal, Danny McBride, J.K. Simmons, etc..

Besides the great performances, "The Men Who Stare at Goats" was pretty awful. Spacey was hilarious and Jeff Bridges was at his best.

Anyone hear of the next Cronenberg film "The Talking Cure" starring Viggo as Sigmund Freud? Already my most anticipated film and it won't be out until next year.
