I've been meaning to read some Gary Snyder after I read a speech he gave on Ethnopoetics, but I haven't been able to find any of his works.

Norman Mailer - The Naked and the dead

The Boat of a Million Years by Poul Anderson. Not what I expected, it is loosely "science fiction", but it's also historical fiction as it's concerned with immortals in the ancient world. Not gods, but people who just don't die unless somebody actively kills them.

James Blonde has almost finished Tatjana Ulitskaya's "Funny funeral" book, rather entertaining but not much else.

hmm the best thing to get would be "the gary snyder reader", i think it's called something like that. it's wonderful, it contains his poetry, translations, journal entries and more. they have it on amazon.
