I like the Hangover enough. But yeah not the funniest movie ever. Great casting though.

It was really great. Very moving. I never thought too much in depth about the death penalty (Floridian). After watching this I really don't like it. The guy that is preparing the meals is great. He seems like a really good person. The filming is wonderful. The only thing I did not much like was reading the narration. Instead of being narrated it had white block lettering over the background. It was very hard for my eyes to read fast enough, so I felt like I missed alot. They did not contrast very well and went away too fast.

SONIC GAIL 04.20.2010 02:45 PM

Kick ass...my husband popped out the other day "I want to see that" I was taken aback. It doesn't look like the type of movie he would like. It does look funny though so we will check it out in about 6 months

The hangover was a little over rated, but funny

atsonicpark 04.20.2010 09:33 PM

Kick-Ass isn't really a comedy, so you're right, NR, it's not funny. The previews make it seem like a total, 100% comedy. It's just a really fucking entertaining movie.

MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPES! That doc is so breathtaking..

davenotdead 04.21.2010 03:25 AM

just saw Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans...

,,,man, when Cage is on, he is the man. what a great film

american movie is my favorite doc of all time.

Bad Lieutenant reboot or whatever is good, but the original is in my favorite movies of all time.

anyway..

The Frightened woman - 7/10
Extremely bizarre and engaging.. doesn't add up to much but it's cool.

The Telephone Book (1971) - 8/10

One of the strangest/coolest films I've ever seen. Wasn't expecting the animation sequence at the end where the big vagina eats people and stuff.

Lakeview Terrace - 5/10

Entertaining enough, I guess, though it gets extremely retarded by the end. This seemed more like a comedy than anything.

Black Devil Doll From Hell - what the fuck did I watch?/10

Um. Yeah. Odd casiotone soundtrack, shot on video weirdness... mORE Info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0193013/

atsonicpark 04.21.2010 08:16 AM

great/10

You've seen it? It's previewing at my cinema this weekend. I'm curious not least because it's Herzog directing it. Have to say I don't hold much hope for Cage though. Anyway, any thoughts on it. The original would be up around my top list too.

I've not heard of this one. one i'll definitely check up on. from what I've just read on it, it sounds fantastic.

Rob Instigator 04.21.2010 08:45 AM

The movie is actually pretty average. But Cage's performance wasn't average at all. Just freaking out the whole movie. Even his overacting works, as it does when he's at his best, like in "Vampire's Kiss" or "Adaptation" or even "Face/Off".

Herzog lost it. Anyone see "My Son My Son What have ye Done?" It was the most retarded flick I've ever seen.

atsonicpark 04.21.2010 10:21 AM

Nic Cage's best "overacting" is in Deadfall.

Yeah, Bad Lieutenant remake is okay, a bit too long, and Herzog hasn't done anything of note in forever.

Definitely check out the telephone book, it might be hard to come by, I got mine from cinemageddon. Seems to have some warhol peeps in it.

Kung Fu Hustle is one of my favorite movies!

I NEEDTHAT RECORD.. should probably check that out.. you should watch vinyl (2000) documentary.

atsonicpark 04.21.2010 10:46 AM

aaaah okay thanks

Rob Instigator 04.21.2010 11:48 AM

I thought I NEED THAT RECORD, while going over a lot of ground that I as a record store nerd already was aware of, also had a lot of good insight and new info I did not know. it is good to arm oneself with proper ammunition when taking on the assholes that shop for music at best buy and walmart.

logicalharm 04.21.2010 10:54 PM

Departures. I really wish someone would have warned me that I would need an industrial strength tissue beforehand.

demonrail666 04.22.2010 02:18 AM

I've not seen Departures but when i read that, i thought you were talking about The Departed, so was wondering what the hell you were on about.

That's an amazing film i think. The fact that Tony Curtis is as scary as he is in that movie, given the kinds of films/performances he's usually associated with, is incredible.

nicfit 04.22.2010 04:24 AM

Indeed.
And that tagline is disturbing as hell on so many levels.

FreshChops 04.22.2010 04:48 AM

on cable now.... haven't seen it in forever.

I really really like Leonard Part 6, it's in the Hudson Hawk club for me.

Teeth is brilliant.. I remember watching it and having no idea what it was about.

I should probably see Whip It since I love Ellen Page.

Rob Instigator 04.22.2010 10:22 AM

DAD'S IN HEAVEN WITH NIXON

documentary on showtime . sad but funny and very moving.
Writer, director, producer and former LA newsman Tom Murray recalls his fractured childhood in 1960s Southampton, New York in the thought-provoking documentary which recounts his grandfather and father’s battles with bipolar disorder and, conversely, his brother’s prosperity through autism and how their afflictions affected their large, affluent Irish-American family.

batreleaser 04.22.2010 11:37 AM

Watched Paul Solet's "Grace" again. Its one of the best horror films I've ever seen I think.

Boston has some awesome horror directors right now, Eli Roth's crew.

Paul Solet is the actor in this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADqAWUoVtbs

I surprisingly had a lot of fun with this one. The SFX were captivating.

atsonicpark 04.22.2010 05:13 PM

yah, it's a good one, surprising for full moon.

davenotdead 04.23.2010 12:57 AM

adam have you ever seen "eat the schoolgirls" [japanese 1997] ? saw it today... most of it rather... skipped around to the disgusting/weird/sexual parts...

atsonicpark 04.23.2010 02:03 AM

Yeah, I have it, my copy is called Eat the Schoolgirl (no S). After watching Evil Dead Trap 2 years ago, I went looking for Japanese slasher films and I came across it on imdb. Someone mailed me thier copy. I actually sample part of a scene in my 2nd movie. Yeah it's pretty cool, kinda similar to lolita vibrator torture, no?
