Thanks. I also believe that a polar bear's fur is very coarse - not snug and soft at all. I think that's why there was never a trade in polar bear fur. It's hollow, too, for bouyancy in the water. I never knew it was colourless though.

In another nice bat story, scientists in Ecuador have found a bat that has a tongue 150% the length of it's body, to help it gain food from a long tubular flower. It reminds me of that big long-tongued moth that Darwin correctly predicted (and was laughed at for doing so!).

Leopard Seals are the second largest species of seal in the Antarctic (after Southern Elephant Seals), and are near the top of the Antarctic food chain.
