as many many nights im listening to eno’s airports because eno

i often try other albums but maybe nothing beats airportsso it’s airports again

earlier i got excited by the joy division youtubes. then im listening to closer. and im in the middle of isolation when i go “uuuffffffff...” and i turn it off.

it’s kinda like pink floyds the wall for me. once enthralled, now so done with such self pities.

transmission though, i could put transmission on a forever 45 with automatic return arm: RADIO (the way he makes that word sound), etc etc

Sand Enigma Orchestra - Related Projects Mixtape

Quote:

Land Of Kush is one of Montréal’s most exhilarating live ensembles, and under the keen guidance of bandleader Sam Shalabi the group has produced some of the most captivating, genre-bending sounds that have come across our radar. Their dynamic performance brings Shalabi’s compositions to life, but the orchestra’s talents are not restricted to Land Of Kush; on the contrary, the band members have an array of other projects that are well worth a listen. We’ve compiled some of our favourite recordings from the Sand Enigma musicians’ respective catalogues into a playlist that offers boundless rewards for open ears. Listen now

Apparently their debut (2008’s Deathconsciousness, which everyone thinks came out in the 2010s because of a reissue) is considered like GY!BE at their absolute best level post-rock by these kids.

I think it’s solid, but not THAT good. New album has some nice tracks too, but again, not THAT good.

Science Beat is cool.

Overall I like their 2014 album The Unnatural World because I’m a contrarian or whatever

Yeah, fair assessment. It's an alright album, but nothing spectacular. Science Beat and Tresspassers W I liked a lot. Lords Of Tresserhorn has something going for it too. But I feel like this album meanders a lot. A pleasant listen, nothing more, nothing less.

I can’t believe that Trump thread is still at the top of the page.

Not gonna lie, seeing it depresses the crap out of me because it gives me flashbacks of a time when the psychotic idiot was only a worst-case scenario never-gonna-happen candidate instead of the leader of the free world.

(Sigh.)

It’s contributed to my being less active if I’m being honest.

i didn’t wanna engage with sopa’s bait originally because i was getting ready to sleep and who needs that,

but one big thing i love about online music is that i don’t have to go through a douchebag to get it (besides no physical storage, zero weight, etc)

so many douchebags kept me away from so many record stores over the years haahaahaaahaaa. glad to be done with the gatekeeper model. they can eat all the fucks. although there were some good ones.

the arrival of napster was a huge liberation to follow my tastes without having to go through music priests and their moral hectorings and inner circles of initiates.

now i find something similar with bike shop employees. fortunately i’ve found some friendly ones who get what i’m looking for and i can bring my business to because they’re really glad to help. but man... so many douches in that line too. anywhere a retail employee can claim little hipster lord status it’s gonna be a douche minefield.

The artist, Walter De Maria, was actively engaged in the New York music scene of the 60s and briefly was a drummer for the rock group The Primitives, an early incarnation of The Velvet Underground (1965). Cricket Music and Ocean Music feature De Maria's drumming mixed with field recordings of nature and were later used as the soundtracks for his film, Hard Core (1969). - Gagosian

Wet snow as in rain? Or wet snow as in actual snow that melts in an instant? If the latter than wow, NM has had its share of snow earlier than Vienna this season, something incredibly rare, I suppose. Anyway, great album choice. :D

yeah, snow that doesn’t quite stay dry. some accumulation but mostly slush. not the powdery kind.

we had first snow... 3 weeks ago was it? something like that.

then again we’re in the mountains at roughly 4 times your altitude (over 2200 meters).

Oh yeah, I remember you mentioning living in an elevated area. Didn't take that into account. Makes sense. No snow around here yet, but plenty of rain and dreary grey skies. I don't mind still having some time before those flakes of unbridled dread descend upon me though.

Anyway, as to not veer off-topic too much:

PLAINSONG!

Is it weird that that track is among my favorites by the Cure? Like top 3? Because Plainsong is heaven via audio.
