This was an absolutely apt read BUT only in the broader context not specifically of Trump's totally overblown 2nd Amendment comments but rather in ALL of the inflammatory rhetoric of the Republican Party not just in this election cycle but since Obama's election. The "Where Is Lee Harvey Oswald When We Need Him" bumper stickers were real deal incitement to violence. The "Lock her up" chants at the RNC were menacing. I did indeed catch Al Baldasaro's outright threat (THIS IS WHAT A REAL THREAT TO VIOLENCE LOOKS LIKE) last month.

I just wish everyone wasn't so focused on the 2nd Amendment comment because it makes it so easy to dismiss the other more dangerous comments as if they were somehow similar.

Lets be grown ups here. Lets criticize what is fair to criticize, lets shrug off what is not really a big deal.

if you put those comments right in the very context you describe you'll see that he's playing with matches next to a gasoline barrel. same with his claims that the election is rigged. so yes, if you look at each word in isolation it can mean a lot of things, but in context--no señor. in context he's teasing the death cock of hate and getting it hard. the fucker is an irresponsible madman unfit to be a small town mayor much less president of the USA.

and OF COURSE the democrats are going to milk that for all it's worth. that doesn't invalidate the stupid blunder. a politician's #1 job is to control their fucking piehole.

yes indeed I said this months ago, however I think the 2nd Amendment thing is ridiculous. Dragging Dr King's daughter into it was especially rich. It just fits into the prototypical stereotypes of "liberals" and frankly I think makes a lot of the Democrats look petty and self absorbed like I said above.

Point blank. I personally think the more mature way for the Democrats to have handled this was to say something like, "Well sure the 2nd Amendment comments might have been about voting, but what about all the other insinuations and outright calls for violence?"

See how that works? It offers something of an olive branch while more strictly focusing the issue on raising awareness about the overall vile rhetoric coming out of the Republicans for YEARS now. If we are all going to waste our time on the 2nd Amendment comments we miss the opportunity to discuss all the much worse things said.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 08.11.2016 06:47 PM

By focusing on the 2nd Amendment comments it allows Trump and his supporters to slither out of it. By more or less conceding Trump's own excuse/defense and then pushing the discussion towards more obvious and undeniable examples of violent and inflammatory rhetoric is puts the impetus on Trump and his supporters to try and apologize for the inexcusable which will hurt them so much more int he court of public opinion

i am not the one posting dumb shit about black lives matter. btw i didn't say or imply that you are racist but that what you posted was racist. i know you to otherwise be a smart person so i am genuinely shocked. either you're trolling us, or you just didn't realize what you said.

that's because my response was the appropriate one to give someone i've known for years here.

there's a lot of misinformation out there about BLM, fox news attacks them regularly, and they were constantly denounced and vilified at the republican convention.

so clearly some of that noise unfairly sticks--and demonyo, who lives across the atlantic, and has local news of his own to worry about, happened to fall for it.

but what he posted wasn't "racist"-- it was just the wrong attribution. there were actual people who chanted that, after all-- but it just wasn't BLM. so it wasn't a "racist" statement however you cut it.

get off your high horse. demonrail is a smart and empathetic guy. i have known him to be quite sensible. that he would even remotely fall for the propaganda i find peculiar. again, i don't think he is racist, but he should be told that what he posted agrees with the racists who perpetuate such misinformation. i know he isn't racist so hopefully this is a reality check moment for him to think before posting dumb shit in the future no matter what he or anyone thinks about my posts about Trump's 2nd Amendment.comments

oh, I'm down, always self reflective.

but demonrail doesn't need an apologist, he just needs to explain what he meant or ask questions to learn where he was wrong.

also my bad, i originally intended to say "hey demonrail's white knight, get off your high horse" which would have been more facetious as i initially intended it to be.

i only got involved because you named me in your post

so i just wanted to clarify that our comments were not in any way equivalent or related or even in the same galaxy :P

no they weren't hence why i told demonrail it was you who said check facts. i wasn't that so nice or diplomatic because again i was sincerely shocked at demonrail's comments, genuinely surprised, and honestly don't know what he really meant. i would appreciate clarification. black lives matter is a serious thing, if you ask me way more substantive and significant an issue than Trump's dumb 2nd amendment comments

yeah blm is serious business which is why there's so much shit said about them

problem is when you saw demon's post you didn't stop and think. you got on your high horse, the horse got spooked, ran you into a ditch, and threw you

but anyway, look at this motherfucker calling protesters "terrorists"

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/...ur-cities.html

meanwhile cops killing innocent civilians week in and week out are "just doing their duty"

ayayay... fucking fox news!

who is the real terrorist?

anyway, my favorite is this one:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...th-arms-in-air

"sir, why did you shoot me?"
"i don't know"

that's beyond--- everything!

stop and think about what? again i like the guy, respect him a lot, but i refuse to believe a person who has demonstrated himself to be so thoughtful across several years posting here would fall for some propaganda shit. if he didn't know better it shocks me.

also i like how you are glossing over the fact that he also insinuated as some kind of insult to me. he said my skills of interpretation were blunted by Black Lives Matter implying he thinks their rhetoric is violent or worse than Trump's.

FUCK THAT SHIT. nothing to "think about" first, so i called him out which based on the venom of his comments i assumed is what he wanted.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 08.12.2016 04:30 PM

flip it all around back on to me because (a) i didn't sip the "Trump calling for assassinations" kool aid like apparently the entire leftist world and (b) i don't concede to dumb shit even from my friends, indeed especially from my friends. if i didn't think so highly of demonrail i wouldn't have bothered btw.

Me, I don't have that problem. Me, I always tell the truth. Even when I lie. So say good night to the bad guy! Come on. The last time you gonna see a bad guy like this again, let me tell you.

!@#$%! 08.12.2016 04:48 PM

you're kind of a lot like trump in that when you fuck up you never admit wrong and just insist and double down ha ha ha

happy friday man. let go of shit and fucking relax.
