Other than Boston, all the bands you listed seemed to be making a genuine attempt to murder rock and roll in the late 70's and early 80's.
They are good for a laugh in video form though..

I think Trees Outside the Academy is FAR better than Psychic Hearts, an album that has cool guitar parts with really lame lyrics and vocal arrangements (his vocal inflections basically just mimic the guitar..) its like an album filled with nothing but thurston's lame 'rockers' that you usually either just kind of like or kind of ignore on the regular albums.
Trees is filled with very well written songs, sounds fantastic, and the guitars, though mostly acoustic, still manage to sound like Thurston.

Jeff Buckley probably could have matured into a better, more interesting songwriter had he lived longer, but as it stands, he was pretty crap.
