I loved it. A kid's movie for adults. And these kids can act.

This is the original poster image

Haha, that's funny.

Will Poulter is an amazing actor for his age. He has a real sense of maturity about him, and he ad libs like an adult.

rushmore-7.5/10
i think it was anderson's least funny, but best plotted. haven't seen life aquatic, ill be checking it out this weekend.

Last Days...

I was encouraging Blake to 'just do it' from around ten minutes onwards - to put me out of my tormented misery.

Easily the worst film I ever saw - 0/10

Yeah, Rushmore is great. It isn't as funny as the others, mostly because it's not as absurd, but who said a movie has to be funny to be great, right?

noisereductions 02.06.2009 12:33 PM

^ really? I laugh a lot at RUSHMORE. Mostly at Bill Murray's reactions. But... still.

Should be of interest to those into the Kenneth Anger/Crowley thing. Orig. 1970 'expose'-style doc looking into Alex Sanders' coven. Lots of naked ritual footage. Psychedelic as fuck. Turn the sound down on this and stick on some Moss and you'll be well away. Just reissued on DVD. A must have.

still rushmore was smart and funny. wes a. is one of my favourite directors.

I think it's funny as well, but it's a different kind of funny. Not just because it's dry of course; most of his movies are very dry humor, but the story in Rushmore wasn't as absurd as the others, and the charactors were much more realistic. I love Rushmore, I remember my mom took me to see it when it came out, and I'm not trying to knock it, but I'm just saying that I love these movies for different reasons.

gmku 02.06.2009 01:44 PM

I used to love Wes Anderson's movies, but now, with the exception of Bottle Rocket, I don't like them. They're so dry that they're almost anti-septic. They're almost bloodless.

While I don't feel the same way, I do feel that way about Darjeeling Limited. Not horrible, but still without any depth or life to it.

atsonicpark 02.06.2009 02:33 PM

Shrug. Never thought any of his movies were that special, either way. Rushmore's probably the best though.

gmku 02.06.2009 05:35 PM

Who is up for some Dr. Strangelove? Tonight, TCM channel, 9.45 EST.

Rob Instigator 02.06.2009 05:36 PM

love that movie.

peter sellers exasperation as the psycho base commander regales him with stories about fluids.....

gmku 02.06.2009 05:38 PM

Peter Sellers was a genius. He so cracks me up in everything he's done.

!@#$%! 02.06.2009 05:46 PM

satoshi kon fucking rules!

demonrail666 02.06.2009 05:46 PM

It's true about Sellers. I watched 'Heavens Above' the other night. Not a great movie really, but Sellers is just incredible. I never tire of watching him.

gmku 02.06.2009 05:53 PM

Anyway, join me tonight for Dr. Strangelove.

I watched the original Nutty Professor with Jerry Lewis a few weeks back. Hadn't seen it since I was about 12. God, there's another comic genius.

atsonicpark 02.06.2009 06:05 PM

Yes! Satoshi Kon is posessed by genius. Tokyo Godfathers is amazing.
