I had to watch that movie in class when I was 13 because we were studying the book it's based on. I hated it then, perhaps I'll enjoy it now?

viewtiful alan redux 07.11.2010 02:38 PM

You probably watched a censored cut which would rob the movie of a lot of its power. Its more of a visual experience than anything though

The Limits of Control, really enjoyed it, 9/10

Forbidden Planet, great sound track and visuals, story hasn't aged well though, 6/10

Predators tried way too hard to be like the original, there was no need to have multiple predators except for like one moment. Just very disappointing, big surprise.

Forbidden Planet rules, but you're probably right about it's dated nature.

Been hitting the Bergman now, after mainlining Werner Herzog for a few weeks.
10/10. Great movie. I cannot imagine sitting through this when it came out, watching people be forced to ponder the deepest and ugliest of questions!

is tis a diffnt title for bill n ted's part 2 or sumthinz?

Rob Instigator 07.12.2010 10:10 AM

That's waht I thought! That Bill & Ted part 2 must have been a riff on this movie. Never got it before....

Savage Clone 07.12.2010 10:13 AM

Seventh Seal is one of my favorite films of all time.

In keeping with the Seven theme, I watched The Magnificent Seven last night.
I liked it, but The Seven Samurai (Mag 7 being basically the same movie turned into a western) was much more to my taste.

hahaha yeah it was. It was obvious that he was pulled directly from this character. Haha. MELVIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob Instigator 07.12.2010 11:58 AM

magnificent seven is a great western but it does pale a lot in comparison to the original

gualbert 07.12.2010 12:12 PM

Oh, the 7 samurai..
3 hours of fun and entertainment! (i didn't get all of it personnaly)

So many good movies on this page!

Saw Predators last night. I should have expected it to not be what i expected to be then I woulda won. But I didn't win. No, I did not.

But still...highly entertaining despite being a bit toooooo slow in certain segments. I'd watch it again. Totally dug the imagery. Yes, aesthetically pleasing.

MIND GAME - 11/10

3.5/10
I wanted to love this movie.. but instead I kind of hated it. I dig dark comedy.. but it has to be funny. Seth Rogen was clearly miscast in a role Danny McBride should have been playing. A wasted opportunity on what has always seemed like a hilarious premise. Oddly... I remember it being pretty funny the first time I saw it, but absolutely hated it this time around

The last of the I guess pretty classic Coen films that I haven't seen. This film sure takes a wild turn that I didn't really expect. Even though I got weird vibes from the hotel and felt a vague surrealism, I didn't quite expect it to turn into what it did. So I really need to watch it again to really process it. Probably Michael Lerner's best role and the two detectives were stellar. It wasn't until this movie that I realized that number of Coen bros. characters have decidedly strange hair. Barton, HI from Raising Arizona, Chigurh in No Country For Old Men, Tom Hanks in Ladykillers, and if desperate, the Dude.

the texas chainsaw massacre - 8/10
the texas chainsaw massacre 2 - 4/10
the texas chainsaw massacre 3: leatherface - 5/10
the texas chainsaw massacre: the next generation - 8/10

atsonicpark 07.13.2010 04:31 AM

I'd say

TCM - 6/10
TCM2 - 7/10
TCM3 - 4/10
TCM: Next Gen - 10/10
Remake - 3/10
Beginnings - 2/10

Derek 07.13.2010 05:23 AM

You liked TCM2? I couldn't stand it! Honestly, Leatherface falls in love? And I was disappointed with Dennis Hopper's character as well... VERY disappointing. I loved the scene at the radio station though.. "you got that... IN DA VIDA DA GADDA!"

TCM was boring for the first while but when it kicks in... FUCK, amazing. TCM3 was alright, it didn't really have anything to it I thought. Next Generation is awesome because of how strange it is, why is Leatherface suddenly a transvestite? Awesome haha.

noisereductions 07.13.2010 06:58 AM

TCM2 sucks.
TCM3 sucks worse.

Rob Instigator 07.13.2010 08:56 AM

Barton Fink rewards mulstiple viewings.

Observe & Report was fun nyenough for me but I do not know how it would hold up to a second viewing. like how his mom passes out on the floor though.

I rate movies based on how they entertain me. TCM2 entertains me. The first movie becomes a pile of shit when about 30 minutes of it is a girl screaming.

The Next Generation is by far the most entertaining and funny and awesome.
