Aw!

I really did love that movie though, didn't realize monkeys were so talented! Blew my mind, really. Seriously.

SONIC GAIL 07.15.2010 08:59 AM

I stayed up all night a few weeks ago watching chimps raised by people. One of them ripped a ladies face off, they are some mean mother fuckers when they grow up

deflinus 07.15.2010 08:59 AM

I agree wholeheartedly (with atsonicpark)

Jason Alexander does a pretty good job as well. i can tell because i didn't think about George Costanza at all

8/10. Todd Solondz rules. I can't even tell why I love his movies... They're just unique and very weird, you never know what is going to happen, the characters are always so strange. Welcome to the Dollhouse is another one of his great movies.

I think he's the best American filmmaker working on a large level. I'd rate all his films 8 or higher, Happiness being an obvious 10.

TheFoxBen 07.16.2010 11:18 AM

7/10. Probably Solondz's weakest effort but still a pretty good movie. At least five actresses portray the main character (black AND white, WTF?), I think it was quite a brilliant and mindfucking idea. Also, the "Sunshine family" part was seriously one of the most disturbing things in his whole filmography !

noisereductions 07.16.2010 11:25 AM

Happiness is awesome but depressing.
Dollhouse is awesome.
Storytelling is so-so.
I think that's all I've seen.

batreleaser 07.16.2010 02:51 PM

Saw Inception. I went in hype-skeptical but ended up loving it. It'll be way over-analyzed by douche bag critics but as an exciting mind fuck of a film it was perfectly executed.

gualbert 07.16.2010 03:04 PM

A Bronx Tale.
Cool gangster movie.
It's not only about who's the toughest, for a change.

viewtiful alan redux 07.16.2010 04:30 PM

I went to go see Inception at midnight.. but was too tired and wound up dozing off... sad : (

No, don't think so. Probably his actual best, though Happiness will always be my personal fav.

Anyway...

It's a violent film about a one eyed, mute, viking killer. i really enjoyed this film and the soundtrack is very good, dark, minimal, drone like. one of the best things i've seen this year... no girls in this film though Rob. 8.5/10

I wanna watch it in Hi def cinema with a rumbling soundsystem. aaaargh

Dr. Eugene Felikson 07.17.2010 02:52 PM

ASP, please tell me more about Inception, and why i should go see it. I watched the trailer, and it looks...alright?

atsonicpark 07.17.2010 02:59 PM

Look at the inception thread!

I mean, I'm a big Nolan fan... Following, Memento, his Insomnia remake, and the Dark Knight are all amazing films. Aside from that, he

a) got a good performance out of Leonardo DiCaprio... who knew it was POSSIBLE to take this dude seriously?
b) he made a 2 1/2 hour movie that never got boring
c) he spent $160,000,000... and he spent it well! The film looks amazing!
d) There are buildings that topple over and people walk on the ceiling.
e) There is a part where everything blows up in slow motion around people.
f) The movie goes from a dream to a dream to a dream to a dream, which seems silly but actually, somehow works.
g) It's not overly complex, but it's definitely intelligently written.
h) Ellen Page.

Trust me, it's great!

Dr. Eugene Felikson 07.17.2010 03:02 PM

Yeah, I just noticed the thread.

Hmmmm...

If anything it should be worth seeing just to support smarter American cinema in today's theaters. Esepcially in this post-Avatar world.

atsonicpark 07.17.2010 03:04 PM

Yeah. I mean it's going to be overanalyzed to death by certain fucktards, but eh. It's not that DEEP, it's just a good movie, and it's got a darkness (especailly in the music) and subtlety and a style I appreciate.

It's gotta be the most carefully crafted and edited movie I've seen in forever, to do what it's doing is pretty mindblowing, and perhaps the most fast moving (without being exhausted) 2 1/2 hour movie ever.

A few things bring it down a notch; goes on a WEE bit too long, some of the shootouts were unneccessary (but the one in the city was exhilerating).

Just an intelligent, great little film.

chicka 07.17.2010 03:50 PM

it's a shame about DiCaprio as a teen he showed a lot of promise then he made Titanic, after that he figured all he had to do was show up to grab a check just like Woodie Cruise. The only thing that he done since Titanic that I enjoyed was Catch Me if You Can

he was amazing in The Departed.

atsonicpark 07.17.2010 04:05 PM

I thought him and Damon were both pretty bad in the Departed, still ended up being a decent remake though.

shabbray2.0 07.17.2010 04:34 PM

I never watched infernal affairs, how is it compared to the departed?
better, worse, different?

I thought Infernal Affairs was worse, it failed to entertain me as much as The Departed did. It's different though.

Of course, asp will disagree.

atsonicpark 07.17.2010 08:15 PM

Infernal Affairs 1-3 is much better, imo.
