It was a massacre by Liverpool. They're looking the most complete team in the title race. Spurs always self-destruct eventually and MC are looking
unpredictable again.

I'm surprised how reliant on Fernando MC seem. Pep will need him fit today and definitely for Thursday night, (8pm GMT) MC v Liv. Could end up being the defining game of the whole season.

@h8kurdt - Yeah, didn't see it but sounds like WH never really showed up. I went into it pretty confident for some stupid reason.

This obviously reflects badly on Jose but also on those players (like Pogba) who it's probably now fair to say weren't exactly giving their all under him - even if Jose brought most of that on himself.

on paper sure a player should always give the best, but in practice, in any team endeavor, leadership counts for a lot. working under a demoralizing boss really sucks the life out of everyone’s performance.

im saying this both from recent personal experience (lol) and with the fictional reminder of just having rewatched lieutenant marimow destroy the major case unit in “the wire” ha ha ha.

As you say, who knows what the real story is? Although it looks to me from the various post-mortems in the press that it was a case of some mercenary players in conflict with a difficult-to-deal-with manager who'd fallen out with an incompetent board, in particular Ed Woodward. I believe Woodward has been the real architect of MU's post-Fergie decline - and long may he continue.

Went to the game yesterday and it's kind of not surprising that this is the worst home run in years. The crowd is just depressing as fuck. Too quick to shout an Everton player down, any chants seem to have gone out the window. I suspect the players are nervous about it. When they play away it's not as bad

HOWEVER! that's not to take away from how shocking some of the players are. Walcott would run into a dead end in the middle of the desert nevermind on a pitch. Got to admit that DCL just isn't cut for the job of striker which is a shame. Zouma and Gueye are the only two players who came out with any respect.

Sacking Silva now would just be daft. We had a great run and that Liverpool derby just took the steam out of us. And badly. Silva needs to be given time and a couple of transfer windows. In the mean time the players need to
shake themselves after a bad December run and get back their mojo.
I'm praying Everton will sign a couple of new players in this window. Specifically a right winger and a striker for now. Won't happen, mind.

Not looking forward to West Ham v Brighton tonight, given how they sucker-punched us last time we met. If Hughton wasn't such a likeable bloke, his brand of football would be lumped in with the likes of Allaradyce's or Pulis's and come in for the same kind of criticism.

Australia's the defending champions, but we've got a bunch of outs that could interfere (Aaron Mooy with a knee, Matthew Leckie and a hamstring.) Should be good stuff though.

my postmortem: man city attacking in greater numbers and better, making liverpool defense suffer way before the goal

liverpool in the latter part not scaring much with the long balls and thin density in the attack. speed is good but can’t make up for all.

Fair result but ultimately could've gone either way. Surprised it took Liverpool so long to really go at them. Fernandinho and Bernardo Silva were the real stand-outs for me but I thought it was a huge city performance all-round tonight.

Yeah should've been a red but there were big tackles going in all round and I think in the end the game benefitted from the ref's quite hands-off approach. Lovren could've gone off, too ... even Pep!
