A new record shop, or just a new shop?

I walked past the old reckless on Monday and it was just a shell.

There ended up being two Reckless Records - one dance, and one rock. Rock one is closed, dance shop now new 2nd hand rock/pop/indie/dance etc.

It must have opened this week. I popped in briefly, and didn't check out a lot of the stock.

I only ever used the old reckless to sell stuff. Never saw the point of buying second hand stuff when most of what they had was available new for about the same price at Selectadisc a few doors down.

Another one bites the dust - or at least in a physical sense: Sound 323 has closed its doors and is now only operating as an online shop:

Sorry this message didn't get out to some of you before the event but after 8 event filled and exciting years, Sound 323 closed the door, for the final time, to it's physical shop on Saturday 18 October. We have made the decision to concentrate our time 100% on internet sales.

The transtition will be a smooth one, regards mail-order everything will remain the same, it is just the shop that is closing.

8 years is one hell of an achievement and we are very proud to have made it that far. We have had the pleasure of serving literally 1000's of in-store customers during this time, staged 100's of in-store concerts and helped distribute some damn fine music.

As way of celebration we hosted an END OF AN ERA party with free live music throughout the afternoon. We'd like to say a big thanks you to all the musicians that took part; John Bisset, Seymour Wright, David Papapostolou, Max Eastley, Spencer Grady, Mark Browne, Dominic Lash, Steve Beresford, Ben Drew and John Wall.

Many thanks to everyone that has made Sound 323 such a special place over the years and we look forward to continuing in our new fashion for another 8 years.
