Feeding Tube is also a shop and I'm sure they must do mailorder.

They do but not for this release it seems... I've tried contacting the owner of the shop but I haven't had a reply yet. Quote:
Another shitty bootleg by the looks of it, which the band probably won't get any money from... I don't get how shops like Rough Trade are allowed to sell these? I'll probably still buy it at some point  |
Never gonna buy anything straight from Feeding Tube ever.

Why's that? |

wait seriously? I only bought it cuz I thought it was legit - being thru Rough Trade and all. Fuck. Can we confirm one way or another? I really don't care enough about bootlegs to be spending $ on em. I still feel ripped off on that Liberty Lunch, although I guess Thurston did at least acknowledge the band knew about that one or were semi-behind it? |

I have been mad when thinking buying original album getting a bootie (Tom Waits Black Rider, P J Harvey Dry, of course I shouldīve know theyīre bootlegs because they werenīt as expensive they should be). And these days bootlegs are in the legit shops, I have bought many from them. |
yeah it's just that I care about collecting the official discography. I'm not as quick to part with my money for unofficial bootleg stuff tho.
|
I went to Feeding Tube last year and Byron Coley was an absolute gent.

This is the label behind Burning Down In The Night: https://www.discogs.com/label/594462-SAT-Records
Not much doubt about their status.. |
Dammit.

And about official discography...I donīt think I will ever have all the Thurston official solo stuff (itīs just so huge), maybe also not Leeīs too. Also I am not into all SY official singles (all official albums I have, well not Hold that tiger and Battery Park, I think Hold that is official bootleg : )).
|
I don't have all the singles either. And I don't hardcore collect the solo stuff.
BUT, I have all official Sonic Youth albums and EP's that were released on CD; this includes the official bootlegs that were released on CD as well. |

I got rhythm, I got music, I got my SY, who could ask for anything more? |

Some high resolution filesets are already showing up at the Pono Store: Goo, Dirty (including "Stalker"), Washing Machine and "The Diamond Sea" (3-track "single" or whatever you wanna call it), all in 24-bit/192kHz. |
Wow. I'd be very interested to hear more about these from someone close to the band...and anyone who's taken the plunge. :D
|
One thing for sure is that it is louder than a motherfucker
|
Quote:
Well, "HD audio" doesn't mean "loudness war remaster". In fact, it doesn't necessarily mean remaster at all. In Pono's case, it means that they go back to the masters and make a new transfer to digital at the highest possible resolution (because of the way some albums were recorded, they can't be transferred all the way to 24/192; they may have to stop at, say, 24/88.2 or something). A bogus "upscale" from the existing 16/44.1 resolution to 24/[x kHz] without going back to the master recordings is a no-NO. What would actually make the HD files louder than a motherfucker is to commit the unspeakable crime of compressing them to mp3. Then you'd get clipping and extraneous distortion and all kinds of fuckedupness. |
