Its arguable to say "Twin Peaks" is the best show ever, but the show got cancelled. Perhaps unjustly but the show never really told its story. I read a magazine naming "Twin Peaks" the third greatest cult show of all-time. And there was a lot of info about the series. ABC forced the producers to answer the "Who killed Laura Palmer?" question, David Lynch said that in fact the mystery was never supposed to be solved, that it was to remain a unsolved murder. Anyways I wanted to rent the series on Netflix but apparently the series premire isn't available on DVD, which sucks. Personally I like "The X-Files" much better.

I haven't seen season 2 yet, but from what I hear it has it's ups and downs.

I have a burned copy of the series premire that I got from my English teacher who got it in Canada.

And I need to get out of this thread before someone says who killed Laura Palmer.

Rob Instigator 03.27.2007 03:15 PM

it's pretty obvious who killed her

HairwayToSteven 03.27.2007 03:54 PM

Six Feet Under is really good. But the best show ever??? That's a bit much.

Rob Instigator 03.27.2007 03:55 PM

the best show ever is

WKRP IN CINCINNATTI

Yeah, I agree. By the second or third season she irritated me. The actress herself annoyed me more than her charactor, I think. She uses her eyes alot to show emotion, and it's like she as an actress thought it looked good so she continued to do it to the point that it became strained and false, in my opinion.

Petty, I know, but I've never denied otherwise.

i prefer the sopranos but since i can't afford cable anymore i won't be watching it when the new season starts in a couple weeks.

schizophrenicroom 03.27.2007 05:51 PM

the answer is "sort of", because in my opinion nothing can top arrested development but can come very close.

LittlePuppetBoy 03.27.2007 06:35 PM

I'm quite into Lost (though some plot points are quite unbelievable....I mean an asteroid hitting a chicken restaurant? wtf!), Boston Legal (there is some really good chemistry on that show) and My Name is Earl (though I've only seen a few episodes)

Toilet & Bowels 03.27.2007 06:58 PM

freaks and geeks was another great program that got cancelled

Phlegmscope 03.27.2007 07:31 PM

By the time they started airing the third season of 6 feet under here, I already had stopped caring about television and thus never saw the rest of the series. before that it indeed was my favourite tv series.
I would like to have it on dvd.

I liked claire, I never really paid any attention to the whole art student thing. Not sure if that was the case now as I'm a frustrated graphics student in wholly pretentious environment... (although, I haven't had to deal with self-important idiots yet, and I'm sure there are those in our school too).

jon boy 03.28.2007 06:19 AM

yes thats true^ i tend to watch series like oz now instead of films. unless its a film i really care to go and see.

having said that, i have not really watched tv for a long time and have not seen any of 24, lost, or the shield. the sopranos i didnt really like all that much.

I think the Pilot is coming out on DVD in the US soon. They are releasing a bit box set with both series when series 2 comes out, I think.

I think Twin Peaks is my favourite tv series. I would say it's the greatest or at least one of the most important. It still amazes me that such a surreal series became so popular (at least my memory of it at the time was as a popular series). It had quite a visceral impact on me as a boy.

I think they have become quite different things. I have heard that the American one followed the model of the British one until it found it's own feet and has now gone in it's own direction and is quite different. The UK one is pretty good but not an absolute favourite. Some of it is almost too painful to watch. As far as painful but funny comedies go I am more of a fan of Peep Show...The fourth series starts on Friday the 13th of April!!!
