Robert Christgau has a section on his website called Xgau Sez, where he answers questions from his readers. Recently, one of them asked him whether he's "always monitoring the endless stream of archival concert releases and crate digs" (this after Christgau wrote that some artists "redefine their music in concert") by the likes of the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie... and Sonic Youth. Xgau's take on Battery Park: "The Sonic Youth I've been playing with pleasure for weeks. I believe the '00s were their live peak. Kim is incendiary." http://robertchristgau.com/xgausez.php?d=2019-07-09 |

Do reissues/represses count in this thread? Anyway, this will do as a nice companion piece to the above STUMM433 release. Saw it on the Forced Exposure newsletter, I added the red highlighting:

Interesting, just saw the full tracklist at Discogs. I think the ultimate silence album is Marcel Marceau (yes, that Marcel Marceau)'s Ruhe Im Spiegelbild. Exactly what you would expect from the most famous mime in history: two full sides of complete silence. Although I think there's some audience clapping at the end... |

would this be the "Lee Ranaldo/Raul Referee -"electronics-heavy” duo album" as mentioned on the first post on this thread, or is this something else? to answer my own question: it is, and there will be a Europe/UK tour in March until May 2020. However on that page the music is described as follows: Quote:
to add to the mystery, there is also this FB post and does anyone know the password? Tease me Lee :D |

Fucking hell, knew I should've tried to make it over. Clear wax is pretty. Had a scan through the rest of the pics you've got on your Facebook - you've got a copy of Hassle Fest as well? That's just cheating man. |
That Thurston 3 lp box sounds amazing! I haven't been this excited for something youth oriented since the first body/head!!!

So it turns out that the vinyl edition of Michael Rother's Solo box set (I posted about it back in February) includes a performance of "Drone Schlager" by what would become Hallogallo 2010. It's on the "Live & Remixes" disc - I think the credits read, "Composed, produced and performed live by Michael Rother (guitar & electronics), Steve Shelley (drums) and Aaron Mullan (bass guitar) at Sonic Youth studio in Hoboken (USA) on 23rd September 2008. Mixed and edited by Aaron Mullan."
