Sums up my thoughts exactly...and add Bowie, Stooges, Roxy Music and many others. No great feelings against them, they just never sound as good as I think they're going to. |
Do you mean that you never felt the thrill of it all?

Fortunately I managed to find my thrills elsewhere. |
I got Electric Warrior recently and I dig it.

Boring story - my mum was pregnant with me when her and my dad saw T. Rex in 1971. My dad went mental fighting off all the tenny-boppers who kept climbing over my mum. I like to think that Bolan's glam chords shuddered their way into the womb where I was.
|
A friend of mine told me that his mother (who at the time was pretty young) was once on the same airplane flight as Marc, and he let her try on his hat.
|
That Marc, eh, what a guy - he plays to pregnant woman and lets other dames try on his hats. We could do with a few more of his kind these days.

Bang a gong, get it on... T. Rex rules!

In terms of style it's like the middle ground between the really early Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff, and Electric Warrior. I really like the album, but I'm also incredibly biased on all matters relating to this band. |
I love the song Cosmic Dancer.
|
i like t.rex. i have a t.rex electirc warrior t-shirt which i cherish.
i love bowie . between 1970-1975 bowie was glam and so was marc, but when i listen to them i don't think of glam, i think of glam when i see them, not hear them. glam is dead, died in the mid seventies. it will never come back. bands like louis xiv are just a fucking joke. don't know where i'm going with this... probably shouldn't pay attention lou reed never liked roxy music... i think he just thought they were boring |

When I was in high school and the bang a gong song was on the radio every hour, I thought it was about smoking a bong. God, was I a geek. Still am, acutally.

LOVE Bolan, though I think I'm in the minority that prefers The Slider to Electric Warrior. srsly, I don't think I've heard an album that kicks so much ass track by track like The Slider.
I've been starting to dig the first two Tyrannosaurus Rex albums these past few months. I used to hate 'em. |
i think glam rock is fucking great, the whole idea that fasion and glamour and rock n roll all coincide together as art. t rex is my favorite glam rock band, thier s/t record and 'electric warrior' are classics, two of my favorites. im also longtime obsessed with roxy music, still listen to them every couple weeks, 'country life' and 'stranded' my favorite by them, other than the berlin trilogy i cant stand bowie. i do love reed's glam records though.
free glam is where its at, which is the philosophy penned by to live and shave in la 2 (weasel walter, rat bastard, misty martinez, and nandor nevai's to live and shave in la spinoff band), which the point was to make extreme music fun again, disheartened with the level of academia in noise. |
i love t rex.w
|
in case i haven't said in this thread before, i love t-rex.
fucking excellent party/fun music and annoying as shit freak folk. |
I cannot fucking stand T-Rex. Shit shit shit shit shit. Really.
