Rob Instigator's Music Purchasing Experience.
If I hear of a band that sounds interesting I will go to that band's site, or that band's record label site, and see if I can sample a song or two. Most bands have a few songs and some have entire albums or EP's available for download from THEM in their website. Then, If I like what I hear, it gets added to the list. Yes, there is a huge list of bands, artists, albums,a nd songs I want to purchase, whether at a indi e record store or at a half price books or at a garage sale, wherever. I then go to the record store, which I try to hit three of them every month, Sound Exchange, Sound waves, and Vinal Edge I browse and browse, looking at everything I am interested in, and hopefully i find gold. GOLD! It is fun as fuck. |
most of the time i plan what i want to but, then i check ebay and amazon to see if i can get it cheap, if i cant then i will go into Birmingham and go to my local indipendant record stores, first swordfish, which rarely has what i want but the guy behind the counter is a SY fan and he always hides the rarest sonic youth stuff behind the counter so you have to ask him. then i'll go to Tempest, the greatist record shop ever, if an (alternative) album exists then its in that shop. The guys who work in there are really nice too, sometimes things can be kinda pricey but its worth it because the stuffs so rare.
so thats my record buying process. |
