I love some of Discharges stuff, a lot of random songs. Most stuff they've put out though is very similar.
I had tickets to see them in Montreal (whenever that was...) but the show was canceled for some reason unknown to me. |
I've only recently got into Crass a few months ago and I love them. My favorite is a toss-up between The Feeding of the 5000 or Stations of the Crass, though I've been leaning toward the former recently. I completed my collection with Yes Sir I Will two weeks ago. I'm actually pretty surprised how shunned that album is. I like it a lot better than Christ tbh.

i didn't know there were so many crass fans on this board. awesome.
|
I didn't know that either.

According to that No-Wave book that Thurston did, Crass DID have exposure to no-wave, on an early NY visit. |
i like crass, discharge, conflict, all that shit, a lot. to me those bands represent true punk rock much more than say the ramones and the sex pistols.
|
rduidementary peni, nasuea, subhumans, i mean, shit, crass influenced a lotta great bands. that early anarcho crusty punk is also possibly one of the biggest reasons we have grindcore. napalm death were all super into crust punk and anarcho punk, they were trying to make music like that but just played much louder and faster and ended up starting a news sub-genre.

ah - my teen years - you guys have me dusting off my vinyl.

THIS. I mean, those bands are okay, but not what I think of when I think of the real punk rock spirit you know? |
who cares if they represent this or that? if it's good music to you, who gives a shit?
|
Yeah, go for what you like.
I hate defining things. |

I can't speak for batreleaser, I just know that when I want to listen to punk, I'd rather reach for a Crass record than the Pistols or Ramones. Just personal preference, ya know? Those songs mean a hell of a lot more to me. |
crass (and fugazi) represent, to me, a band that could sell hundreds of thousands of records without compromising their message and values. i love their music, but what makes them even more special is what they stood for, not just in their lyrics, but in their actions.
|
i think fugazi's music hasnt aged well at all
|

it has for me. |
most of repeater and 13 songs sounds kind boring to me
|
yeah 13 songs has some boring songs on it, but repeater hasn't aged at all. still one of my favorite records by them.
|
Repeater hasn't aged well?
What? |
i stand by it dude, album has got some really weak songs
|
Repeater is definitely their best, but Fugazi is way overrated.
