SKULLFLOWER are obviously one of the bands you are looking for.

Well, if Skullflower make the cut, then I'd think Bastard Noise would too. Skullflower strike me more as psych noise than metal though, or at least the one I know well, which is Tribulation.

akitsa-goetie
dirty black metal that morphs into some incredible noisescapes...awesome vocals, and even some misfits type "whoaa oh ohhh"-ing" (cooler than it sounds)...i cant recommend this one enough...one of my black metal faves

their earlier stuff is more "rock", at least instrumentation-wise.

bastard noise is more structureless, unrock noise.

That they are, I was comparing them to Tribulation though. I should check out more Skullflower, though I love the ambient noise direction since they do it so well.

My favourite black metal album - Fimbulwinter - Servants of Sorcery

i would recommend Blut Aus Nord's "The Work Which Transfoms God" in that case, and also Haemoth's "Kontamination".

Cantankerous 09.12.2008 04:30 AM

plus the three records i've got by them together don't live up to the potential they have on paper

beherit's second album is probably the best album ive ever heard by a black metal band making obvious flirtations with experimental and noise sounds. its also my second favorite black metal record (behind transylvanian hunger folks, which could also solrta count as noise metal, that lo fi production and those feedback fueled laser fast guitars, ive been listening to satanic music since i was little, in the form of sabbath, metallica, maiden, slayer, and that but darkthrone is the only band where ive really like gotten freaked out and even drawn to the evil/satanist aspects)

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.14.2008 04:09 PM

First band I think of when you say noise metal is Napalm Death.

Get the Peel Sessions.

i was gonna say coalesce, theyve always been just as much a noise rock band as a metalcore band
