If I am in a car I got my cd's.
There are no trains in Houston
have not been on a plane in 16 years.
if I am on a bike I like to hear the ambient sounds, especially of a car about to hit me.
walking, I also like to hear the a,bient sounds, and talk to people.

I guess there's a lot of loners!

It is just music. Just music. Just someone moving things in space, and other things moving as a consequence.

I can't believe anyone considers typing into Soulseek to be an actual effort. I'm not anti-downloading per se, but I'm a long, long way from sympathetic to some ones-and-zeroes that you've not paid for being gone.

I travelled somewhere in the region of 170 miles once to buy a 12". It wasn't even particularly rare, I just couldn't find it locally and a mate told me it was where he was.

Passion is a devotion, I suppose, but you certainly won't download your wife or your first-born.

I think one of the greatest joys of having a real-world music collection, whether it be vinyl or CD's, is the immense pleasure you get when browsing through the stacks or crates or rack or shelf and finding stuff you forgot you owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then you rock it!~!!!!

that shit don;t happen with no ipod!

Check the parsing on 'downloading' and 'first-born'.

shuffle is not what I am talking about.

I am talking about flipping through the stacks looking for something to listen to (LOOKING being a key word here) and finding a record or CD you forgot you owned or thought you had lost. that does not happen with Ipod or MP3 device. shuffle is the exact opposite of looking for something to listen to. it is accepting whatever random song is pulled out of the mp3 depths.

afterthefact 04.17.2009 02:40 PM

Yes, but to me, that would be a small price to pay to be able to have all of your music at your fingertips. I mean, I also like it when I put on a jacket in the fall and find $20 that I put in the pocket at the end of the winter before, but that's not going to stop me from using my debit card.

My biggest issue with iPod is the problem I am having now. I assume it's a hard drive issue, but it just keeps freezing up on me. I even tried formatting the hard drive in it, and it freezes when I do that too.

Rob Instigator 04.17.2009 03:00 PM

what about the irreplacable battery that dies every few years and makes you buy a brand new $300 Ipod?
