You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to swa(y) again.
|

Haha so whadya know.. Apparently the TVU&Nico thing is being resurfaced. He's going to start doing cover albums as collaborations.. in one day. Then release one song a week up on his website. It sounds neat at least.

OMG. This is great news. I'm so excited! Awesome! (ps, summer, THESE are the kinds of posts you wanna keep making). |
Eh. I know. I've recently grown tired of the "trolling the forums" thing, so I may as well become a civilized poster and all ya know. ._. Btw, my Sonic Adventure topic wasn't a joke topic. 100% serious. I live in a small country town, and my parents wouldn't allow me to listen to MTV (a blessing in disguise), so really besides Guns N Roses it was my first exposure to rock music, kind of opened my eyes up. (And my heart. Ahahaha I kill myself.)
Anyhow, yeah, I wonder what else he will do. TVU&Nico, EVOL, hmm.. maybe In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. That album is pretty overrated imo, but I bet Beck could make it awesome. |
Beck should cover "Disco Volante"...
|
haha.

Record Club We've been working on changes to the website for the last few months. We'll be adding new sections as they're ready. The first one to be added is called Record Club, an informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day. An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project. For this first edition, after lengthy deliberation and coming close to covering Digital Underground's Sex Packets, all present voted in favor of the 'other' Underground's The Velvet Underground & Nico. Participants included this time around are Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, Brian Lebarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Giovanni Ribisi, Chris Holmes, and from Iceland, special guest Thorunn Magnusdottir, and myself. Thanks to everyone who helped put this together, and to all of you for indulging in this experiment. More soon. Bek. --- enjoy! |
Sex Packets would be awesome by the way.

Beck Covers Sonic Youth's EVOL on Cassette for Sonic Youth Box Set
Also, collaborative album with Charlotte Gainsbourg on the way ![]() Earlier this year, Beck and Sonic Youth released a split 7" for Record Store Day. SY covered Beck's "Beercan" and Beck had his way with Sonic Youth's "Green Light". It turns out this isn't going to be the last Sonic Youth cover we'll hear from Beck. In a recent Pitchfork interview, Beck revealed that the "Green Light" cover will appear on a forthcoming and mysterious Sonic Youth box set, which will include Beck covering SY's entire classic 1986 album EVOL. On cassette. Yes, cassette. Beck's been making a habit of covering entire albums lately. As part of his Record Club project, he's currently in the process of releasing his version of The Velvet Underground and Nico on his website, one song at a time. He wouldn't let slip any of the other albums he'd covered, but he did say that he and MGMT came pretty close to doing Ace of Base's Happy Nation, which would've been incredible. |
I want to know more details of this f'ing boxset!!
|
they are lying, there is no boxset.
I've heard only about sy live dvd boxset.. but why this is so improtant, and mysterious? |
I love "The Destroyed Room" song, pure awesomness with that catchy riff.
and agreed sway Dirty is the best deluxe. |
Seriously, why cassette? I know it's "cool" to release stuff that way, but it makes it really hard for the majority of fans, including myself, to listen to it.

it's about time SY put out, like, a proper live dvd. |
Live DVD's are like live albums...
I think they're okay to document a certain period of a band. So for instance, if there was a live DVD from EVOL era, then one from DIRTY/GOO era, then one from ATL-MURRAY era and so on, that would be kind of cool. I hate when bands put out too many though. Like one for each album is stupid. Also, I think "Special" shows make cool live albums/DVDs. Like Nirvana's Unplugged or when Kanye did the show with the orchesta. In this sense, the SYR performances would be good DVD's. |

a little more info on that from beck himself "They are doing some kind of box where they are getting artists to do photographs and art and pamphlets related to Sonic Youth, and one of the things they were requesting was a cassette. So I signed up for the cassette. I thought it would be an interesting idea, at least, something that's on cassette." The Sonic Youth box has yet to be confirmed. |
