FUCK! at least the simpons stays timely.

afterthefact 06.22.2006 04:00 PM

such anger about a TV show...

jon boy 06.22.2006 04:18 PM

i concur though, family guy did not make me laugh.

Rob Instigator 06.22.2006 04:19 PM

I I could I would grab every single person involved with the making of that show, every producer, every person who works for any and all companies that advertise on that show, and anyone who is standing too close to that show, and I would crush theyr larynxs with my heels, shit on their eyes, rubbing it in, causing those horrible infections you can only get from having shit rubbeed into your eye, then I would take a 9 iron to their genitals, and then I would......

Rob Instigator 06.22.2006 04:21 PM

and this is from a guy whose favorite TV shows include such tame fare as antiques roadshow, bargain hunters, victory garden, Nova, Scientific American Frontiers etc... Can You Imagine if I was not so well-balanced?

afterthefact 06.22.2006 04:25 PM

If you weren't balanced, I'd actually rather see you more towards the larynx-crushing side, just cause the antiques roadshow side seems so bloody boring...

But my original point (I tend to lose focus quickly), how much longer do you see it staying on the air? It's been on FOREVER, but has it become a staple, like the Tonight Show?

nobody? NOBODY?!?

Rob Instigator 06.22.2006 04:34 PM

dude, I stopped watching SNL a few years ago because I just don;t care no more!

acousticrock87 06.22.2006 04:44 PM

I sort of agree (though to hate a show that much is a waste of precious energy). However, Seth McFarlane says, "I'm still fuckin' rich." And I would have to concur.

SNL is actually on it's way up right now. Some excellent talent came in this past season, and Tina Fey left. So it should rock next year. However, as far as overstaying its welcome, I'd have to say that's not possible. If you rewatch the original few seasons and consider them to be funny by today's standards, you're simply nostalgiac and delusional. Which is fine. But the point is that SNL is a staple of American culture, regardless of how bad it does.

I kind of judge whether I watch SNL based on whether the host appeals to me or the musical guest. If neither does, I don't really bother watching. I guess it should be about the writing, and whether I find it funny or not, but I don't really. And to be honest maybe never have. I do love catching the SNL of the 70's, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, (the orginal "not ready for prime-time players"), yet now-a-days, I just base it on host and/or musical guest. SNL is pretty hit-and-miss.

afterthefact 06.23.2006 02:28 PM

What I hate is when SNL has sport stars, or even worse, polititians, hosting the show. They can't be funny, or even act for that matter, so it just brings the whole thing down.

Alex's Trip 06.23.2006 02:51 PM

I thought it was funny when Al Gore hosted.

afterthefact 06.23.2006 03:24 PM

I stand corrected :)

Rob Instigator 06.23.2006 03:45 PM

I thought the best politician to host was senator john mccain. he was hilarious. very self-deprecating, very good sense of humor.

I may have to give the new cast a shot this upcoming season!

Half of the actors and actresses that host the show aren't funny, and can't act either. So what is the difference?

afterthefact 06.23.2006 09:40 PM

well, the difference is that, yes, they usually can :)

atari 2600 06.23.2006 10:05 PM

Which do you have more disdain for, Rob...
Late Night with Conan O'Brien or Family Guy?

just wonderin'
