These won't be deleted. It has nothing to do with spam unless the thread itself is spam.

I really hope chabib reads my post about dofollow spam. You can read why this is the cause of most of the spam on this board at this link.

the people posting those links can't get google hits on them because google-bots can't see the non-sonic sharing forum.

maybe they're doing it wrong, but it looks like more of a case of "work from home ON THE INTARDNET"-link posters.

see also: chinese sweatshops.

anyways, whatever, I've stopped caring and stopped offering advice to all the "where did my link go?" people.

see also: fuck it.

I've stopped caring about everyone but you.

just add text to the body of yr post.

ie:

www.clickthislink.cum

... <--- the important part.

yeah, interesting that they're all posting in that forum. Nonetheless, users who register and add a single signature link but don't post anything still get read via their "profile pages". Sure is work from home stuff! I do link building every day, and I work from home. Just I stay the hell away from spamming sites, especially since Google will murder me if they found out I was doing it.

floatingslowly 09.17.2009 05:44 PM

ahhh I see what yr saying.

that's an easy fix though. simply make "member list/view members" available only to registered users.

I love fucking with bots.

what's with this moderation shite???

chabib 09.17.2009 07:47 PM

for anyone inclined to help confused posters keep from getting their knickers in a twist, there's an FAQ item here: http://sonicyouth.com/gossip/faq.php...ispam_faq_item

I'm sure that it cuts down on yr delete-a-spammer workload, but it mostly just confuses new users, and lately, it's going haywire.

did you update vBB software but not the mod?

(I assume it's a mod and not a part of the vBB itself)

also, if you (or someone) were to delete old threads, the database would move a lot smoother. typically, 150 pages is the point where pruning makes a difference. non-sonics is at 500+.

0 post users take up minimal space compared to the constant page requests of old threads (guests/google spider-bots love to look at 3 year old theads).

if you just don't feel up to it, I would gladly volunteer for deletion duty.

yr pal,

agreed. I have been having fucking trouble since last night.. it has been vexing. even had a problem posting a thread right now.. it took a few tries.. I have found it works by suddenly changing the post by adding "..." and it solves the problem :)

I've been doing that for months. that is, helping new users get over the trauma; not linking the FAQ, because "read the FAQ" is what nerdy cunts always say.

this is a new issue that only started happening within the last few days.

yr first post in this thread led me to believe that this is something that you've done very recently, now I'm not so sure....

did you recently change this moderation to include all users? I think that the new user link-moderation has been in place for awhile.

again, I don't mind, as adding "..." to links is no big deal, but there's been a lot of people flipping out.

sarramkrop 09.17.2009 08:09 PM

flotz is always on this kind of thread. go figure.

floatingslowly 09.17.2009 08:15 PM

that's because I'm usually the first person to offer help when people ask.

the recent issues (and the admin.cp) are beyond my control and this needed answering.

St. Flotz takes care biz-nass

chabib 09.17.2009 10:21 PM

made a bunch of changes on the database. let me know if things seem smoother.
