I'm wondering if it's even possible to overrate Brother James.

For me its an incredible rockin' song that still gets me, but i get the impression its looked down upon

I love Sugar Kane.

Sugar Kane rocks. The melody is really catchy, but the guitars are really cool too. Great song!

overrated : schiz - pipeline/killtime - karenology - pink steam

Cinderella's Big Score should have definately been amongst the underrated songs. I love the break in that song.

overrated: schizophrenia (boring sound and awful lyrics)
underrated: paper cup exit (awesome, lee ranaldo at his best)

bad songs: drunken butterfly/teenage riot
best songs: sweet shine/karen koltrane/sympathy for the strawberry/Hits of Sunshine/kotton Crown

i think kotton Crown has the best lyrics ever and it is the most underrated of all SY songs

so i was never a big fan of dirty but recently i just keeping playing theresa's sound world off that album a ton. It's got this great ambient almost mbv quality to it that im really enjoying.I never hear this song talked about but its become my new favorite by them.

yeah.. they lost me on Brother James and then Providence as underrated. I agree with Karen Koltrane though, that is a bad ass song.

I think considering how extensive their discography is, we should have a five over/underrated albums not songs..

Sonic Youth is barely rated at all on anything. I say their entire output is UNRATED!

Sonic Youth were one of those bands in high school that no one really liked. maybe about 20-30 of us (out of 600)
i'm sure there was alot of idiots who thought they just sucked
which to the untrained ear, it's just a bunch of crap
but that'd be coming from a bunch of redneck fucks who liked shit like Dwight Yokham and Offspring.
i bet i was also the only true RUSH fan in high school as well
they all fucking sucked! and i only hang out with 2 of them still
and they both love SY

Really only agree with Kool Thing and Brave Men Run. Kool Thing is great, but I've never understood why it s been the crowd favorite at every Sonic Youth show I've ever been to.

Brave Men Run is easily one of their best songs ever, and I have never seen it get the recognition it deserves.

What's the deal with the Radical Adults entry? That is a strange choice. And although the comparison to Mick Jagger is pretty far off the mark, I admit that I can't help but imagine his cheeky ass singing that song now. Sucks.
