well, let's see . . . i speak english, y hablo espanol (he estudiado la idioma por cuatro semestres en el colegio y la universidad). aside from that . . . i know the greek and korean alphabets, most of the cyrillic and arabic alphabets, and i've been recently teaching myself japanese kana. i can say hello in about 15 languages (english, spanish, french, german, italian, norwegian, greek, cherokee, korean, arabic, hebrew, mandarin chinese, japanese, klingon, russian) and can say at least a few basic phrases in about half the above. also i'm going to start taking mandarin chinese when i get back to school in a few weeks.

i'm slightly obsessed with languages.

Learning Chinese and Japanese simultaneously would be a nightmare. Same 2000-10000 characters, completely different language.
