That was sneaky, but at least I managed a rhyme.

You would have to specify the zombie part. Though nothing could top the Thriller backup dancers. So don't even try.

holy-reverb!! 08.12.2006 12:18 PM

fred sonic smith (zombie). better?

Cantankerous 08.12.2006 12:50 PM

looking at him when he was alive was hard enough. please don't provoke that image.

holy-reverb!! 08.12.2006 01:06 PM

hah. sorry.

Lipslikewindows 08.12.2006 04:40 PM

Patti Smith makes the most sense to me as well.

Yeah, he sort of had that "I just got hit in the face with a truck" look going on. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

The R&R Hall of Fame should have Lou Reed induct SY. It's obvious. Sonic Youth are the obvious logical progression of Velvet Underground. VU took music to strange new places by experimentiing with feedback and droning guitars and SY took it to a new peak.

matt reeder 08.13.2006 07:06 PM

Eddie Vedder. He's a big fan, and you know Pearl Jam is headed to the Hall.

Daddylikes 08.13.2006 09:11 PM

Iggy Pop or the Ramones, both of which have had tight relationships with the band.

Daddylikes 08.13.2006 09:11 PM

Lou Reed would suck. What an overrated hack.

 i am shocked that you say this! on an SY board no less! surely you realize thay without Lou Reed, Sy (at least the SY we known and love) could very well not exist, along with most every rock band around these days that tinkers with the "avant-garde"! plus, he isn't overrated at all, he's in-fuckin-credible. yr entitled to an opinion, but that is just a plain silly thing to say!

Daddylikes 08.13.2006 09:38 PM

Yeah they could have. The Velvet Underground were just the ones that were buddies with Andy Warhol.

Ok. Here's an "experiment"...

Pop in the double disc "The Raven", listen to it all the way through, and then come back here and rave about Lou Reed.

He wasn't even the reason to listen to the Velvet Underground.

Me, myself, or I...

gmku 08.14.2006 12:21 PM

The R&R Hall of Fame can kiss my ass. That is so not what r&r is even about.
