LP porno shots, like the kind I have posted in the past.
You know, the whole thing in its natural state.

gmku 12.12.2006 04:49 PM

I'll do what I can. Presentation doesn't match yours. Basically my record space is just a converted linen closet. With lockable door to keep out record thieves!!!

Savage Clone 12.12.2006 04:50 PM

Yeah, but I'll bet you have some sort of hygrothermograph in there to make sure the climate control is at optimum levels. I don't have one of those.

porkmarras 12.12.2006 04:51 PM

I can imagine a few people wanting to nick a few Rolling Stones records in the 60s.

gmku 12.12.2006 04:51 PM

Clone, No, just little Victorian vinyl faeries what keeps the baddies away.

Ah, you just have Stones envy.

Rob Instigator 12.12.2006 05:15 PM

i like records. I just do not give off that "Uber record collector" vibe I guess.
some collections are meandering, owning anything and everything opartly for completism and partly for the fact that a certain shit record may have one good song on it. I steer clear of that route. the guys nominated have some sweet collections though. much respect!

gmku! I just got Devil's Jukebox 7" set for under $10.00!!!!!

gmku 12.12.2006 05:28 PM

Whoa. No way. Lucky son of a gun.

I love it when good vinyl finds are under 10 bucks.

I try not to get too meandering. I can get a little obsessive--interested in collecting all of an artist's discography (impossible) or in various reissues (e.g., my U.K. and U.S. pressings of Sticky Fingers and Exile). And I'm pretty obsessed with colored vinyl and with 180gram reissues. But I also try to be discriminant and buy just music that I really like, and not because it might be collectible.

Exactly.

I buy most, if not all, of my vinyl secondhand. I never really buy anything brand new, as I like my vinyl to be more of a hunt, finding treasure, rather than just going to the store and paying a stupid amount for somehting that I could buy on compact disc alot cheaper, and be just as happy with.

gmku 12.12.2006 06:06 PM

Yeah, I hate that many new records are now more expensive than CDs. Especially the reissues are.

k-krack 12.12.2006 06:10 PM

I bought a couple of awesome vinyls for about the same price as cd's. I picked up Fugazi's The Argument for I believe $13 and, The Velvet Undergound & Nico for $14. (both from a sadly passed-on store...) And more recently than this, I found Psychocandy used for $8!

Norma J 12.12.2006 07:12 PM

Well Fugazi vinyl new is acceptable. They're cheap, and it's Fugazi.

k-krack 12.12.2006 07:15 PM

Word. Plus, the cd wasn't in stock at the store, and I really wanted some Fugazi. (I'd not even heard them prior to buying it, though!)

gmku 12.12.2006 07:21 PM

I'm embarrassed to say half my Fugazi is on CD. Hope that doesn't disqualify from the running? I had to use up a Best Buy gift certificate (I know, I know) and I figured that was the best use of the thing. But vinyl is definitely the preferred Fugazi medium. They do the cover art so well.

Norma J 12.12.2006 07:32 PM

I don't own any Fugazi on vinyl. And I don't mind that I don't. I will most likely, just for the artwork alone.
