i posted a bunch of my favorites with short descriptions here: http://deathbomb.livejournal.com/132945.html?nc=3

my list last year had a bunch of more mainstream stuff. this year ended up being more obscure, a bunch of tapes... prob cuz i spent most of the year living in my car that only has a cassette player.

Oh you know. I can't think of that extremely popular song that you would know. Crazy, I think?

Everyneurotic 12.28.2006 06:49 PM

people are dumb, that album sounds like the temptations or any doowop band from the 60's if they travelled 60 years into the future and were recorded on the moon; sure, "crazy" is super burnt, but the rest of the album is amazing.

also, i don't listen to the radio and stuff, so i wouldn't know how popular they became; i saw the video a few times and i saw them on letterman, so i guess they were played to death.

i also think, popularity has nothing to do with the quality of an album, lady sov's public warning didn't make it into my top 50 by a hair...in fact...

I think this is/will be in mine but I haven't listened to it enough to decide. It's nice though.

special mention in mine to not not fun's bored fortress 7" series and deathbomb arc tape club year two; bored fortress was perfect, every side a mindblower, and dba's tape club always had something that took me by surprise (i'm still missing my last batch)

Пятхъдесят Шест 12.28.2006 07:12 PM

Yes.

and i haven't posted here in a while because it had turned into dunce-central here, a lot of idiots trying to be idiots at the same time.

Several people have been hating on this particular Inca Ore album because it's more grating than anyone expected. The 2005 album "Brute Nature vs. Wild Magic" was a really beautiful album. "The Birds in the Bushes" is grating for me at moments, too, but I like a lot of grating stuff. And knowing the circumstances behind these recording sessions perhaps also slants my perspective. I just really enjoy how wild and free Inca Ore can be, and this album is a great example of that.

Iain 12.28.2006 09:20 PM

Exactly my sentiments pretty much. I bought it from her at a show and she told me that they rented a cabin together and recorded it. She described it as 'carnal' I think :)

Doubts Seeds is one of the best albums ever written, and you all don't know it. Shame, shame, shame.
