PAULYBEE2656 03.10.2007 04:20 PM

ok, im back in ireland and am wrecked after my fortnight in the sun! ill try and get my one sorted this week.....

finding nobody 03.13.2007 12:06 PM

my tapes are in the mail!

PAULYBEE2656 03.13.2007 03:37 PM

mine done and ready for posting in the morrow.....

Everyneurotic 03.13.2007 03:44 PM

when is the deadline for this one? can i send a cd-r to someone for them to transfer to a tape like gtood old spookie used to do?

i'm going to be buying a reconstructed stereo as soon as i get paid so i would be able to make the tapes my self, but i still need to get paid.

Glice 03.17.2007 12:02 PM

How's this lot all going? I would offer to do the CD-r thing for Mr Neurotic, but it seems pretty pointless sending something across one continent just to go to back to a closer one.

Incidentally, if someone could e-mail/ PM me when the next round is going, I'd be most appreciative. I'm too busy to do actual things here at the moment, so I shan't be logging in very frequently.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.17.2007 01:31 PM

I'm waiting on about three tapes to come in. Hopefully they all come in today. If this is the case, they will all be sent on Monday! Sorry for all of the delays.

I'd be more than happy to head up Round 8 as well. As soon as I send the tapes from Round 7, a Round 8 thread will magically appear.

Danny Himself 03.17.2007 02:45 PM

I think before we start a new round we really need to hype it up too. 2-4 contributors is pretty shameful.

ahhavalon 03.17.2007 04:59 PM

TOTALLY procrastinated on that. D:
It was late, and I was somewhere in San Diego.
next time. next time.

Everyneurotic 03.17.2007 06:28 PM

my stuff is sent, although i'd say you should go ahead and send round 7 and count my stuff for round 8, as i don't want it to be delayed because of me.

Ah, but yours shouldn't take all that long to get here, plus you even it out.

Everyneurotic 03.18.2007 09:27 PM

mail is taking 2 to 4 weeks to get to the u.s.

PAULYBEE2656 03.19.2007 07:34 AM

only 4 tapes??? i thought tis round was gonna top about 15 by the way folk were talking....

Everyneurotic 03.19.2007 11:27 AM

i'm going to be in the next 2 rounds after the one i sent, i already have the mixes.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.20.2007 02:25 PM

Right.

Pauly's tape came today. That makes six, so I'll sit this one out so its even. A shame for whoever might have got my tape for this round, cause it's steamy.

Tomorrow all tapes will be on their way, for those who have sent. Anything that comes after tomorrow, will be used for Round 8.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.21.2007 04:39 PM

Rejoice Mixers, tapes have been sent.

When I told the postal worker I needed international postage for Ireland, the guy did his worst Irish accent, which sounded more English than anything. And said, "oh Ireland!, luck o the Irish to ya!". It was not funny.

Everyneurotic 03.21.2007 06:38 PM

i'm in round 8, 9 and 10, then.

sonicl 04.01.2007 01:59 PM

I have Bytor Peltor's tape. I'm not ready to review it yet, but I've listened to side one and enjoyed it.

Glice 04.04.2007 04:47 PM

Fuckin' A. I absolutely adore that Prolapse album. I memorised all the words to it at one point, I reckon I could still drag them up if called to at gun point. Good work Mr B.

Edit: Also, I remember Mick 'Archaeologist' Prolapse buying me and my mate drinks when we were lowly 14 year olds when they supported Urusei Yatsura around the 'Slain by...' tour. Happy times.

sonicl 04.15.2007 01:24 AM

Has no-one else received their tape yet? In particular, has no-one received the one I did?

finding nobody 05.01.2007 05:20 PM

BuMP
Anyone gotten mine?

sonicl 05.01.2007 05:26 PM

Well I think I got Bytor Peltor's - NWW / Prez Prado.

finding nobody 05.14.2007 07:46 PM

Got Glice's tape and another called "SHHH... NOT ANOTHER WORD." in the mail today

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.14.2007 08:37 PM

Ah good!! Took a month longer than it should have, but it helps when the address is correct.

Also, the other tape is from Sonicl.

Give us a shout when you want a tracklisting. This is the round 7 tape, yes?

sonicl 05.15.2007 05:46 AM

I would imagine that Glice's tape and mine will be quite different. Hopefully an interesting listening session for Mr Nobody.

Mine is great. If yours is different, it must be shit. Are you sure you want to commit to that statement?

sonicl 05.15.2007 06:03 AM

Is your definition of "great" in mixtape terms any better than your definition of "great" in headwear terms? My tape will not necessarily be "great", but it will hopefully be enjoyable. Which is far more important than greatness, don't you think? Oh, by the way, your fly is undone.

Glice 05.15.2007 06:05 AM

Two things: First, that hat fucking rocks. Second, my fly can't possibly be undone because I'm naked on account of not going to work today. IN YOUR FACE.

sonicl 05.15.2007 06:09 AM

I would prefer not to have your nakedness in my face, thank you very much. Those scabs are still weeping.

Iain 05.15.2007 06:17 AM

To be fair, I want the hat in question and wish I had stolen it when I had the chance.

sonicl 07.20.2007 08:45 AM

Bump, to remind me to review Bytor Peltor's excellent tape when I get home. I feel very bad that I've not reviewed it before.

sonicl 07.20.2007 03:01 PM

Okay, Bytor Peltor's tape:

The tape is called "The Informal Swing of Erotic Fancy". One hell of a name... very intriguing. The cover, I will attempt to scan (my scanner is playing up) and post later.

Side One of the tape is titled the same as the tape itself, and consists, I think (but obviously correct me if I'm wrong), of a compilation of Perez Prado tracks. The first I know well - Guaglione, otherwise known as "The Tune From The Guinness Advert" - but the rest was new to me. I wouldn't count myself as a Perez Prado fan having listened to this, but I certainly wouldn't switch off if I heard some of his music was about to come on the radio, and if I was to hear that there was going to be a documentary about him on TV or radio, I would definitely make a note to check it out, as the tape has prompted me to want to learn more.

Side Two of the tape is called "NWW A Monument To Perez Prado". Because my more recent experience of live NWW wasn't a particularly positive one, it took me a long time to get round to listening to this. Having finally done the deed, I am now more confused than ever about how I feel about them. They really are an enigma, awful one time, brilliant another. I can only describe what I heard as like being in a flotation tank, it is so beautiful and (very unexpectedly) soothing. Some of the loveliest ambient-type music I have ever heard. I PM'd Bytor Peltor to find out more about this music, and the best thing I can do is to quote his reply (I hope you don't mind, BP):

01. Monument To Perez Prado - 0.52
02. Approaching Darkness Fish - 3.38
03. Darkness Fish - 1.27
04. The Standard Of Table Daddy - 7.17

The next track is the title track of the NWW ep, 'Funeral Music For Perez Prado.' It's over 33 minutes long and while it's playing, I mix in three additional tracks at different times.

05. Funeral Music For Perez Prado - 33.29
01. Home Is Where The Hurt Is / Monument For Perez Prado - 6.42
02. Livin Fear Of James Last - 6.56
03. Yagga Blues - 6.25

06. Easy Listening Nightmares (9.28) - This last track is from the 'Alice The Goon' ep.

All of the music on side two was inspired by Perez Prado. It's my understanding that Mr. Stapleton aka "The Head Nurse" was addicted to large amount of Perez Prado music and I'm sure some sort of chemical substance contributed. This period of Wound music is unlike any other. A Perez Prado tracks starts off Side A of your tape. I also sprinkled in "short burst" of Prado sounds throughout the Woundness on Side B. At times, there were three to hours things playing at the same time on Side B. I listed each track length so you can kind of see how it all came together.

Let me know if you want the track listing for Side A.

I had to quote all that to show just how much work Bytor Peltor put into this mix (and how deserving he is of having got to see a review much much sooner than this). I'm actually quite moved that such effort has been put into a tape to be sent away to a stranger.

I'm not sure if it's the tape's original intention, it has become a regular fixture on the kitchen ghetto blaster when I'm cooking, and I can think of no greater praise from me than that.

Thank you, Bytor Peltor. You make a damn fine mixtape.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.20.2007 03:25 PM

Yes! Mr. Peltor has consistently made amazing tapes, at least from the last three rounds I have hosted. I remember listening to this one, and almost keeping it.
