been bleachmobile'ing it up a ton today.

there are some Les Rallizes Denudes CDs out at the mo, seemingly limited edition. I dunno if its difficult to get a grip on them from youtube videos, but im going to slap 12 quid down this weekend as ive just got a new job.
|
£12? Normally Les Rallizes CDs are priced at two or three times the price of a normal album.

A Boris live performance is being streamed on pitchfork for a week. |
Ive found myself in a Japanese phase at the minute, apart from Les Rallizes Denudes, who i am genuinely astonished havent been given the "greatest band youve never heard of" treatment by some mainstream outlet, especially considering the story about the bass player being involved in an aeroplane hijacking. Some other good ones are,
Theres a really good blog i found the other day here : http://dullcare.blogspot.com/ Good links to youtube vids and downloads with a range of styles on show old and new, i especially enjoy Gazan because they all wear sequins except the bass player who is naked. |

I didn't know where else to post this since only like 2 people will care about it but you guys know that band SPARTA LOCALS, right?
I just heard this band, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB, on.. vh1 of all fucking places... listen/watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXwYJyrKK5A is it just me or does this song sound VERY influenced by sparta locals, and the video is even similiar to one of theirs (with that white background and shit)? |
oh yeah and as far as vis kei goes, it's all about BUCK TICK and cali-gari
|
compare
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROVxgXw-wsc it's not identical, just seems influenced by them... then again, a lot of j-indie bands have that kinda sound. MO SOME TONEBENDER and so on, you know. |
SPARTA LOCALS... awesome.
TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB... typical flash in the pan generic UK music. |

Yeah yeah they suck ass, but my point was, doesn't that song and video sound and look like they're REALLY inspired by Sparta Locals? I dunno. Just a weird impression I got.
For those out there who don't know the Locals, get 2nd Fanfare (some of the best guitar lines ever) and SUN SUN SUN asap. |
Any of you ever hear Cyberne? Japanese metal with a strong Jesus Lizard influence

I'm going to bring this thread back, because you guys are literally the only people I can ever have a conversation with about this shit.
I'm listening to Soul Discharge '99 again, and swinging between 'holy shit this is awesome' and 'why the hell am I listening to this?' I'm still definitely keeping it on my phone, and 'Pow Wow Now' is probably one of my favourites. The question is...where do I go from here? |

Vision Created Newsun about my favorite. Explore their live sets for a lot of interesting sounds
|
Vision Creation and Super Ae for sure!
|
I had a tape with Soul Discharge '99 on one side and Decals by Beefheart on the other. What a C-90 that bad boy was. Happy days.

Anything with Yoshimi in it. OOIOO are choice. Gold & Green was my first LP by them, very highly recommended. Grow Sound Tree is a great track off it if you want to dip a toe in the water. Sounds fuck all like Soul Discharge, mind. Not 100% on more Soul Discharge-ish stuff, but their shift from shambling noise scumfucks to sunworshipping drum circle psych wizards happened over a few years in the mid 90s. Super Roots are kinda the Boredoms' very own SYR series; 6/7/8 cover the transition period and are worth a pop. The whole extended Boredoms family tree is worth investigating. Fucking love that shit dude. |
Green Milk From The Planet Orange is well worth the listen.
Dead-Air introduced me to them in 2006 when they played -LIVE- on What’s That Called? I want to say Green Milk crashed at Ricardo’s and possibly played a mini concert in his kitchen? They are still touring: May 4, 2019 Their new album, THIRD, was released last month. |
I have seen them several times and they are indeed quite the force of nature. Progressive rock is not dead!
|
I was hoping their Spring tour would make it to Texas, but alas they stayed close to the PNW......maybe someday.
|
I can't recall how I bumped into them, but I got quite hooked by Kikagaku Moyo (Green Sugar, once the 1st minute is reached: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDLhkvJZfnI)
Which lead to Minami Deutsch, whose live performances are better than on record (Sunrise, Sunset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_eRwrjrQ_E) Damo Suzuki's used them as a backing band at least once. |
