You have to earn it first, young man! ;) Hi's to you, too.

Combined with the Video clip its a pretty powerful track. When the first 'Wonder how it came to be my friend" comes along, theres a slo-mo of the band waving their guitars together which gets me all emotional for some reason. Cat Power's King Rides By is a pretty emotional track. |
In addition to that, "Circle" by Miles Davis from Miles Smiles is probably the most beautiful performance ive ever heard, always stirs the emotions
|
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
Joy Division - Atmosphere whenever I hear these now it reminds me of John's funeral :( and you'll never walk alone. |
The Hollies - Jesus Was A Crossmaker
It's kinda beautiful, mostly because I listened to it around a period in my life when a relative died. Everytime I hear it I think of the funeral, which btw was my first and sofar only one (no, I'm not fishing for sympathy). |
The Sleepwalker by Cat Power makes me sentimental
|
Due to the circumstances in which they were recorded, and the tragic end, Johnny Cash's "American Recordings V: A Hundred Highways" and "American Recordings VI: Ain't No Grave" aren't exactly easy to listen to without being touched by the grim, raw emotion of the songs.

I don't cry.
This song makes me nostalgiac, especially as I'm getting older. Stiffer. More aches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipyieEOjkVU |
"Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, which is supposed to have the opposite effect. My wife used to sing it to my son, and now that she's gone, it kills me to hear it.

Sigur Ros - Samskeyti

lightening boxer royal trux it is sentimental

In Any Other World Happy Ending Almost Lover Vicarious Wake Me Up When September Ends and more i cant think of. so, what songs make u cry? |
Just a few off the top of my head... some may sound absurd, but keep an open mind. I'm an old fart and have been listening to music for a long time...
Broken Social Scene-"Anthems for a 17 year old Girl" Yo La Tengo- "Green Arrow" The Cure- "Plainsong" Tom Petty (& the Heartbreakers? Not sure)- "Learning to Fly" Kim Carnes- "Bette Davis Eyes" Pavement- "Texas Never Whispers" The Beatles- "Blackbird" Pearl Jam- "Nothingman" (I don't even LIKE this fucking song, but the chord arrangement gets me every time) DCFC- "Movie Script Ending" (Another one I don't even like, but it's about a town I know very well, and it paints a pretty damn good picture of the experience of being a scenester in the '90s) And more and more and more... some I love, some I hate, some I will never listen to again. |

who gives a shit? Beautiful song. One of my favorite songs of all time. I always think of making a mix of covers and songs that sampled it... Miles Davis, Nas, 2Pac, etc. |

Agreed. I am not a Cat Power fan, but this song (as well as "Color and the Kids") gets me every. single. time. Cant' help it. I just tear right up. |
Oh man, heard "Let Us Sleep Now", the finale to Britten's War Requiem, in Music History class yesterday. I got the vapors.
|
7 pages in and no one mentioned "For No One" by Sir Paul? :(
|
hence why you are supposed to play it over and over again.
EDIT: ctrl + f = quicksearch. |
Big Star - Thirteen
The Replacements - Here Comes A Regular |
|
SY song: Tunic. It's easily my favourite of theirs.
General song: Haushinka, by Green Day. Not a particularly sad song in itself, but earlier this year a girl who I had a lot of feelings for (both romantic and platonic) moved away, and the lyrics keep reminding me of her. Shame, the song's awesome. https://youtu.be/4ATkdYngGQc |
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing (Ft. David Bowie)

|
Deftones - Sextape
Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could've Been Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have Nine Inch Nails - Hurt Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - A Minute to Breathe |
Whigfield - Saturday Night
Alice Deejay - Better off Alone Queen - Radio gaga. 'Radio! Someone still loves youuu' gets me by the proverbial tear-ducts every single time. Nickleback - discography. Especially the alcohol song - these guys have been there, down to the bottom of the bottle where I heard they bumped into Trent. Any modern rap - the depressive immaturity gets me every time. Actually welling up now just thinking about grammatical error. The 10 o'clock news jingle - obvious tings. Anything with a 4:4 beat. |
