Regardless of the quality of the music within (which I'll agree is pretty good), that's a cunt-awful cover. |
Ha ha h a ha.

sorry but this looks like a dream come true for men at work or huey lewis and the news. |
![]() It's much better in person. |

Tood gimes... |
No offense but in my opinion Glice and Everyneurotic are right: some of the selected covers would rather belong to the Worst cover thread.
|
I'll add that it's obvious that the quality of the music can bias the perception of the quality of the cover.

![]() Probably already been. |
![]() Always found this one pretty cool |

Well, I think it's rather presumptuous to make such a remark. It's all subjective, and we like what we like. |
Having said that, I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned the most ingenius of album covers of all time:

I have the right to say that I don't like some of the covers posted in that thread, no ? |
Sure, if you put it that way, that it's your opinion.

That Led Zep cover would never make it today. It would be banned as child porn.

I always wished that those bombs were landing on GSYBE themselves. In saying that, their label has wonderful artwork on the majority of the records that they put out. |

haha, i was actually gona put that but i didnt know if it applied |

I'd say all of your choices have been pretty good - I can't abide much of the music contained, but that's not the point of this thread. I think what the antagonists are trying to point out is that a lot of people seem to be posting the sleeves of records they like, rather than sleeve-art that's good. As a for instance, I can't abide Zep IV musically, but it's an awesome cover (and thus stays in the hallowed Glice racks). |

True. I can see that. Like Blonde on Blonde. A lot of my own feelings about the cover have more to do with the music contained within than with the actual art of the cover. If you strip the cover from the music and the legend, it's a really ordinary photograph. |
Quote:
Yeah... Blonde on Blonde is certainly an iconic sleeve, but it's far and away from standing alone as a piece of art away from the music. I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised to hear I'm not too fond of that either. I'm having problems thinking of sleeves whose art I like away from the music now... Hmm. It's a tricky one, oh yes. |
Quote:
i agree the quality of the picture isn't very good, but have you seen the actual sleeve? i think it complements growing's music perfectly. |

one of my favourite album covers ever ![]() i don't know, i REALLY like it. it's up to date...in sync with 2008 and not trying to revert back to the 70s which was undoubtedly an era of awesome album covers and music to go along with it |
Quote:
i really like this, but find myself confused by it. is it like liars' homage to nebauten or a nebauten ablum called liars or what? |
Quote:
i wouldn't have a problem if it was just this, but most people are posting the cover art of their favorite albums rather than cover art that's truly great or good. |
Quote:
in rainbows is not one of my favourite albums, probably wouldn't even be in my top 50 were i to make a list. however i really like the artwork. Quote:
![]() this does happen to be another of my favourite albums but it's also another of my favourite album covers. so there. |
