Yes! Comedy Vehicle is brilliant.

'cos the whole thing is a deconstruction of typical TV comedy, right? Unless I'm just reading too much into it...

Don't get me wrong - the Comedy Vehicle is the best UK comedy show I've seen in ages and Stewart Lee is without equal in this country today, but there's no disguising the fact that every single one of the sketches is fucking dire and serves only to badly reiterate a point he's already made much more succinctly.

But yeah, props to Lee & Charlie Brooker for bringing 2 regular weekly doses of rationalism to the nation's screens. And being funny while they do it. Just lose the fucking sketches next time.

i think you're reading too much into it. i totally agree with the second point.

phoenix 04.21.2009 10:04 PM

there isn't much I don't laugh at once I get started.. But often I dont like anything/anyone repetitive. As in, one joke counts for one laugh. You can't milk it for ten minutes, move on. So.. really I like comedians that wander through stories in their stand up

the Monty Python boys
Bill Bailey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w5YQ...eature=related
Dylan Moran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKZCh...eature=related
Rich Hall
Ross Noble
Arj Barker
old Doug Anthony All Stars songs/shtick(it never gets old for me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-JfIduytVs

so many that I cannot think of.. I'll watch anyone at least once.. Comedy festival is my favourite time of year in Melbourne and I'm not there. :(

exploding plastic candle 04.21.2009 10:16 PM

exploding plastic candle 04.21.2009 11:43 PM

have you seen his show? It's really good

joe11121 04.22.2009 05:03 PM

No, I haven't, just youtubed him.

ZEROpumpkins 04.22.2009 07:17 PM

I know Demetri Martin from all the spots he gets on comedy festivals they televise around here.

DeadDiscoDildo 04.23.2009 02:11 PM

demetri martin is pretty ok.

Though he seems more like a nerdy, anti-drug version of mitch hedberg.

He's like the watered down version.

But at least not a direct rip off.

RIP

ahem i would just like to point out MEAT ON THE FACE how much longer could you milk that for?!!! but it was hilarious!
but not as funny as 'show me... show me... show me where yr mother lives!!' now that was a shorter joke which didnt leave me thinking about different ways to attach meat to yr face all week

stu666 10.11.2009 04:06 AM

Stewart Lee was great on friday night, i highly recommend you go see him if you get the chance, he's touring all over the uk at the moment. Got to speak to him afterwards and got his autograph. Apparently he went to school with Napalm Death! :D

stu666 12.03.2009 04:04 AM

Please sign this petition for a new series of Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle, it was one of the funniest shows on tv but the BBC doesn't want a second series.

http://www.petitiononline.com/BBSLCV/petition.html

jimbrim 12.03.2009 04:09 AM

I signed it.

Have you been watching the new series of The Thick of It? I think that's one of the funniest shows at the moment.
