The season 3 trailer does look pretty ridiculous.

Cheese and rice, theese few episodes are gross (in a good way) and heavy, yeah! Funny too.

so far I think 3rd season has been the worst season. Though last night was good becuz finally Bill, Sookie, Tara have all crossed paths again. It felt too weird to have EVERYBODY split up.

James Frain as Franklin is a riot.

Russell "Last time you had any money you went straight to the slots in Bilotzi and ended up slaughtering a church group of elderly women."

Franklin "Well they wouldn't let me have a turn!"

I think it's so over the top it's superfun.
It's way more primal and wild (and somewhat "stupid") compared to the older seasons, and I think it's pretty cool for that.
Different tones, different stuff, lovely bits (bites? :D haha).
Franklin is amazing. The face of that guy is uberkool.
When Bill punches Lorena in the nose, and she makes THAT face, haha, I loled and not just that.

All in all: I think we'll see developments only in the second part of the season, but hell, I love it, it's like a "fuck twilight, vamps are a dirty bunch".
scariest character: Joe Lee.
I just wish Eric would get back to his most cynical.
How Russel says "FAAAHN THASHTIK" at the end of the episode is great.

I don't liek this show...well at least I didn't. But after watching 3 of the past 4 episodes....it really did seem like it's picking up. I might just tune in from now on....

the season 3 finale was horrible.

This season was kinda of bad, it had its redeeming moments. I kind of liked the ending, but that was just me.

i wanted to hate true blood, but i really like it. and by that i mean i want sam.

yeah I really like the show. But season 3 was really weak compared to the first 2.

i've only seen the first 2 from netflix. i don't have HBO. that's disappointing to hear.

Does this mean the dialogue gets even worse?

finale offered no resolution. No answers. No nothing. Season 3 felt like a long half-season.

that's the thing i liked about it so far. they wrapped up the season, but started a cliff hanger right at the end. i.e. maryanne = dead, but bill gone. i needed to know maryanne was dead. i was good with that.

disappointing.

yeah this felt like it was just like episode 5 ended. But now we gotta wait until next Summer to see what happens next. Pfft.

The finale was not "properly" good, I mean, it's a mess, it's not something you'd say "hey, that was very well chiseled".
BUT ^^^^ see that other post.
Basically this season (without sayin' too much for those who are "behind", hey GG!) showed how everyone is fucked up in some way, the most normal guy is the only one who has been fucked up from the very beginning of the show (duh, you know who I talkin' about).
Bottom line: this season feels like a mess, because what happens in it is a mess.
Sounds pretty coherent to me haha.

p.s. while "waiting" for the next season I'll gladly watch SOA season 3 and Bored to Death, most likely..a few weeks "covered" for me hehe.

When I tell people that I'm tired of all the vampire shit, there seems to be a sense that, because Twilight's popularity has supposedly been the cause of all the recent vampire stuff, I am complaining about Twilight.

I'm not, though. I don't mind Twilight and its sequels.

Dunno [kinda OFF TOPIC] I really don't see the point in complaining about a "trend" (or wathever this may be), just enjoy the things you like that come out of it, and don't give a shit about the useless ones.
Luckily series/films etc are (usually) not copycats of each other, coz of different "targets" etc.

I think they are "perceived" in different ways, not "it's all the same vampires stuff".

There are GOD KNOWS how many tv series/movies with cops and criminals.
I watch the ones I like or find interesting and I don't watch the ones I don't consider interesting/likable, but I don't hear much people complaining about "all this people-with-guns shit".
This is not a post "against" pbradly (also because I'm not 100% sure about the meaning of his post), just a generic opinion. Lots of people say "enough with fangs, jeez", like there's nothing else going on beside vampires stuff..mboh!

Yeah, all the Law and Order shit can stop, as well.

ha ha, see?, but I wouldn't want shit like The Shield, the Wire, Sons of Anarchy etc to stop.

What I mean is that popular media has become so self-borrowing that any complaint I make about how saturated it has become by one trope seems to be taken instantly as an indictment against the 'original' trope when I'm more bothered by the culture.

Caveat lector:

1. This comes after watching American television on Korea after a long time of not watching anything.

2. This also comes after seeing what seemed like a low-budget show that combined vampires with crime drama.

Season 3 finale wasn't that great. Hope Russell breaks outta that half assed prison by next season.

Yeah Russell was the best charachter they've had so far.

The show was on a definite roll up untill Russell ripped that hack's spine out on the news. Then there were just too many subplots not tied up on and no more "what the fuck!?!?!" moments.
