Sunny weekends are killing me. Especially Friday evenings.

!@#$%! 05.10.2011 06:02 PM

hey sunstroke

i went out on a job the other day & spent a bazillion hours under the sun. felt like shit in the afternoon, woke up lobster-colored the next day, had to stick to cold showers for a week, and peeled off subsequently. now im tanned, redneck-style.

question for you though is: have you considered a gradual acclimation to the sunlight?

i knew this scottish guy who would roast like a pig at the beach, he was white as motherfucking paper, a quasi-albino, and you might be like that.

however-- have you tried a slight and gradually increased exposure to sunlight? i'm thinking you might be getting too brutal an exposure when you finally get out of your cavern, and maybe all you need is a little acclimation.

Derek 05.10.2011 06:04 PM

Yeah, I went to a doctor about it.

i do love the sea, but my dream is also to be on an island during winter.

i do get this though during summer: i want to stay on an island all summer.
i get a run away (from the city) vexing feeling.

sunbathing, always found it very boring and its unhealthy.
i can do it only for few moments and then i want shadow. and no way i can do it without a book and music in my ears.

i love grey weather and its obviously very comforting.

and its days now, that i just want to go to camping place this weekend. just take a book and go. without swimming. wont happen.

derek, i dont think its a big deal not liking summer. feeling depressed always is, of course. many people dont like summer. my mother doesnt.
did you really see a doc about this????

If someone hasn't asked your hand already, I am perfectly happy to do it myself. Our children will be transexual orphans.

It was a woman you... sexist. She said there was no formal treatment to this and that I could either try medication or psychotherapy. Since I don't really have anything to talk about I opted to try the medication for a few weeks.

oh, i don't give a shit about your personal interaction with your physician or her gender or the defects of the english language, i am only curious about your freak condition and its contribution to biology. with that in mind, please elaborate-- did she describe the cause of your maladies or did she just dispatch the prescription without further explanation?

Derek 05.10.2011 07:21 PM

The latter. I kind of knew that going in though.

thats the only explanation i ever got from a doctor.
skin too sensitive, prone to rashes, allergic to sweat and sensitive to heat.

alteredcourse 05.11.2011 08:02 AM

psych meds cut down the frequency and intensity of constant doubt shadowing every thought so that i was able to gather the focus and confidence to make a major life change that had been pending for a couple years. the other consequence was that i was able to be all around a bit more productive. i lost a bunch of weight and have stabilized at a pretty decent one.
i am aware that the underlying brain puzzles and patterns that would result in the doubt, endlessly self-deprecating generalizations and overall tunnel vision of death are not "fixed". you cant erase those. but im aware of some of them and am working on that. its still hard. i still have to figure out what the hell to do with myself. but i dont plan on stopping my medication in the near or far future, considering what i was before, and im okay with that.

knox 05.11.2011 03:51 PM

meds can be useful but they're generally not used that way.
they can be helpful at times but the problem is most of us want a miracle, rather than going through all that therapy bullshit, and then there's the fact that most therapists are either useless, insane or both.

Derek 05.11.2011 03:58 PM

I've been fine recently because it's always been raining, I've left school and I'm going out with my ex again after a year apart.

Don't know why this thread was bumped though.

Glice 05.11.2011 04:44 PM

The same rules about apparently burnt out fireworks taking your limbs off apply to relationships as well. Tread carefully, young one.

Derek 05.11.2011 05:03 PM

Noted. It's going very well though, we're perfect for each other. Also we're now a bit more mature and the time apart has allowed us to gain retrospect from why last time didn't work out at the end.

ALIEN ANAL 05.13.2011 03:16 AM

I have missed SYG

Still feeling yellow Derek?
