I'm trying it. Its got elements and pieces of musics that I like. Generally, I can dig the Swans but its not really in my rotation, but of the dozens of bands and albums y'all all listen to and recommend, this has been the only one I can even remotely try. So while at a glance it seems a bit to extended minimalist, almost like an Aphrodite's Child meetsTool but then again, I like tool, and I can dig minimalism. If this album suddenly gets me, I will thank you all kindly :) |

Kind of off topic, but I've been looking for an app designed for making lists with commentary and pictures, and sharing them on the web. There appears to be nothing that doesn't suck. Best I can find is Lystee as far as apps go, and Lystee sucks. Using spotify or iTunes to create a list of songs from the year's best albums seems like the best bet, but still, it's far from perfect.

im being bombarded by good sounds. in these instances i do what i always do, listen to joy division and pretend there is no other music.

Tenacious D's Jazz 12"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2oYWvX25r0 Spinal Tap should also cash in craze as well |
Can I ask a serious question? Many folks here continually diss my taste in music, but honestly, I try to find new bands by youtubing the bands many of y'all post here and I have come to one glaring conclusion. Since when the fuck did so many Sonic Youth fans get into bad, Euro-club mix techno and electronica? I mean that shit isn't exactly bastard noise yo ;)

lil ugly mane - mista thug isolation i'll have to say. though sadly i didn't listen to much this year. i'm always behind.

Hah! I've actually wondered the same thing. Your taste in music is fine, and you're funny as fuck. One of my NY resolutions is to say more spontaneous nice things. |

I KNOW!!!! AMAZING!! FUCK OFF!!! |
i've been supprised by how many lists (online and in magazines and stuff) have left off Animal Collective. I've seen "top 50" lists which dont mention Centepede Hz at all. I guess it might be cool not to like them anymore but i think it's a really good album with some amazing tunes. There was a load of buzz about the album when it came out, but people seem to have forgoten it.
(or did i just dream it?) |

I agree. Their 2004-2010 output was always in the top five of everything. But I don't even think Potchfork or Magnet included them this year. I think it's a rally good album too, though its probably not in my top five of the year. It's definitely in or near the top ten, for sure. Also, Deerfhoof released a great album this year, and it's been noticeably absent from a lot of the lists you'd imagine it would fare well on. |

|
kind of surprised to see Earth and Om so high on the list. Both are bands I have loved in the past but neither of those albums impressed me.
|
It's either The Seer or John Frusciante's - PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone.
|
I really got obsessed with the Actress album "RIP"
